DIY Entry Step Support

Although I am pleased with my 21FBRS so far, the entry steps give me cause for pause. At 235 lbs, I put a lot of stress on them. I have visions of tumbling out the door some day when the steps break off the bottom of the TT.

I shopped around for step supports but didn’t like any of them. Instead, I bought a black plastic folding step stool and cut the legs off at the bottom hinge joints. It fits neatly under the step, provides very solid support, and stores easily because it folds flat. Good idea but the distance between the bottom step and the ground often varies ...

Good point about the distance to the ground. Generally, it's not a problem where I camp as part of my setup is to ensure an easy consistent step in and out of the trailer. I'm sure it won't work somewhere, but I'll default to the orange Lego's.

So far, I've been able to make the step stool work at 5 out of 7 campsites. It sometimes takes a little scuffing to move the gravel around. At the other two sites I've used orange blocks. I'm going to paint a half-dozen of them black so they look a little better under the step.

The brace above looks interesting, but I'd have to figure out something that folds flat.

I have the same support, It was designed and made by the OLDCOOT. I'm pretty sure he is selling them. I would send him a PM. I swear by it the man is a genious when it comes to these things, his mind never stops. It also folds up with the stairs I have not seen steps that it would not work on yet unless electrical or hydraulic ....

I made 2 supports for my steps. Used 2 adjustable handles like something you find on adjustable squeegees or along those same lines. The kind you turn part of the handle to make it longer or shorter. Measured my 2nd step....cut the handle the right size with the adjustment approx. 1/2 of the all the way open. Installed a bolt thru the second step from the top and a washer with a couple of nuts under the step. Long enough bolt so it sticks out from the bottom approx. an inch or so. I just open the steps....slide the adjustable handle underneath with the open part of the handle siding over the nut and twist the handle and extend it just a little ....putting pressure under the step. It stays there and never moves and gives the steps a lot of support.

Still use my fold up with the steps,adjustable from (1-1/2 to 18 in) car jack. Price-5.00$ at junk yard! Youroo!!

At 235 lbs that's not to heavy , good work at the gym ..... Bless ur heart
