Do You Turn the Water Off?
I try to make it a practice of turning the water off if we will be away from the TT for a few hours. And I turn the water heater off too if the water is turned off.
Do you do this or is this what insurance is for? 
What say you?

Yes I turn it off.Over 20 Years have seen many leaks.I have had 2.Bad water pump valve that allowed city hook up to flood fresh water tank and a leak at the sink connections.Our rigs take a pounding when traveling and you never know what might get damaged.

Only since last year when the commode would seep and fill the bowl and overflow. Had valve replaced and it started again this year until I took it apart and lubed it with silicone grease, but have started turning the water off if we leave the campground. Never thought about since we've had trailers starting in 1976 until last year.
You can't compare your home water to a camper, you don't tow your house down the highway at 55-70mph.

I have never done it, but I may start after thinking of the damage that could occur. Pretty simple way to be extra safe and the only downside is adding to an already considerable level of OCD.

We have never turned it off... However we were camping at a KOA in ME and taking a walk around. There was a HR Motorhome and we saw "water" coming out of the roof, my first thought was how the heck is water coming out of the roof??? (It was sunny out)... They had turned on the black tank clean out and then left it on, closed the black tank valve and went shopping, so it backed up so fast it was pouring out the vent on the roof, down all around the motorhome. What a mess.

Yes I do. Actually a close friend of ours experienced something similar. Luckily they were at their campsite when it occurred. their dog managed to turn on the water on in one of the faucets, they had one of those 'arm style' faucets and the dog just happened to knock it and turn on the water. They have a large dog, a Newfoundland. They saw water leaking out through the underbelly and stopped it. Luckily little damage was done.
Leaks can happen. It takes just a few minutes to walk around and shut it off when leaving the campsite; which I do.

Always!!! Had a pipe connection come apart in a 5ver while in town shopping- came back to water running out pass thru storage.

Turn off rig and home water when gone for more than about 10 minutes (rig) and when gone more than overnite at home. Have seen leaks at both places (not mine but others) and lots of damage done. Have you ever drained your home water heater?

I actually turn my water off at home when I leave for a long. time. Its just safe insurance. 1 valve. In the trailer if i leave for a few hours I do not. & I leave it on when I'm sleeping too

I never did till our pressure release valve failed on our previous trailer. One of our camping neighbours noticed water pouring from the water heater. They turned off the water. Because it was outside no damage to the TT. But now turn off water when leaving CG. Plus use to turn water off at home when we had one. The hoses that supply the washing machine are known to fail. Would not take long to flood a laundry area.

we always turn water off when leaving motor home and the reason why, left our trailer parked up hunting and pump on and when we got back 2 hours later 40 gallons of water was all gone and the new trailer was totaled. Short trip for us that year. We found a bad toilet valve that was stuck. And if we leave for a trip I shut house down also and turn hot water heater down on lowest setting. This all works for us. We stay at Many diff.Campgrounds around the USA. Even with a Water Press Reg. I shut it off when we leave. The water pump is turned off at Home as well as the Water heater,and yes I drain the House Water heater (2x) a year. The anode rod in it is (3ft) long,cant buy it at C/W for (12.00$).  We know our camper will not look like (Niagara Falls,Will You?)  If any one wants a (1st) Hand report,maybe (AquaMan) can (Wade In) on this Post?  Yourroo!!
