Door locks 831RLSS

Had two instances on last week whereas we were locked out of our TT.
Went outside, closed door and when tried to renter TT the latch was locked and had to use the key to unlock the latch. Second time it happened, wife was locked out and I was on a photo shoot. She had no key and she was not a happy camper!!
I don't believe these locks are designed to to that? So is this a failure or a fluke issue?

Had that happen a few times as well. I learned long ago to hide a set of keys outside the camper. Not sure why it happens but would be interested to find out.

i locked myself out of mine once...now i can't figure how i did it sense it takes a key to do it.

don't let this get out but, on some, u can get in thru the cargo area. the cargo area is not as secure as the living area of the trailer.

It is possible to get out of the trailer with the handle locked. Been there...my wife thought she'd lock up and thought I was doing my last walk around beofre departure. The door grab handle (folded for travel) would have created havoc there!

If you turn the key to lock the top part of the door it can be opened from the inside but once the door is shut you are locked out. The bottom locks the dead bolt. The top locks the handle on the outside only. The top lock is also master keyed. That is why when you go to a dealership only the top lock is used. They cannot open the deadbolt with the master key.

exactly--we only lock the door with the deadbolt, was told by the dealer we bought our first trailer from about the chance of being locked out and that there are only a few "master" keys and everyone that works in the industry has one. he also said to use the deadbolt for traveling as it secures the door better than just the handle lock.

i did it with the dead bolt somehow. i will probably figure it out the next time i do it. either that or the top key does the dead bolt also. if that's the case, that must be how i did it.
i carry spare keys in the truck now.
