Any suggestions on running my water heater on gas or electric? I noticed that on the outside panel that i have an on/off switch that is in the off position with a key through it. Is this the switch for electric?
That is the switch for the electric side. I always use the electric and haven't had any problems with having enough hot water. I'ld rather use the campgrounds electricity than my propane.
Some use both when they're taking showers to have a quicker recovery time.
Just thought I would add. Make sure your water heater's tank is full before turning on the electric or gas side of your water heater.
the only time i used the gas side on mine was the first trip after i bought it.
my heating element was burnt when i tried to use it. sense mine was bought at a show, i don't know if the electric was turned on (with an empty tank) at the show or if i did it on first use. they won't last long without water. i now carry the tool and a spare.
i have never had an issue with lack of hot water sense then. i only use the electric.
Hook up to the water at your campsite. Open a hot water faucet in your trailer. When the water comes out in a steady stream (no sputtering or air) then you'll know your tank is full.
if the trailer was winterized, make sure the water valve going into the hw tank is open and the bypass is closed.
i didn't know this existed until i started reading these forems on winterizing (within the past year). i've had travel trailers sense 1992.
a little extra assurance would be to open the water heater relief and see if u have air or water.
