Looks like your lucky it didn't start a fire.
What were the symptoms and signs or early warnings leading you to pulling out the wiring?
My external lighting seems to be okay for now but I would want to know if this is happening before the flames develope. I have a 2014, 27 RLWS also (white)

I strongly suggest you have a qualified technician look at your problem. From the photos it looks as if you have a short in the wiring, which has the potential of causing
big problems. The wires need to be tested from the power source to the switch, then to each lamp.

The running lights were very dim and those at the top were the dimmest so I started their and found it. I replace all the wires at the top.
