During the PDI our dealer recommended we lower the murphy bed for towing. We do this as the latches appear very marginal.

Yes, got it last Thurs!! The large window in the dinette area does open from the bottom and it serves double duty as the emergency escape window, so it opens with a lever. This is not so bad as it is therefore the window that can open the farthest!! There is a screen on it. Also on both the forward and rear of the dinette slide sides there are conventional windows w/screens that open upward with two open positions.

Problem with our Flagstaff SuperLite 23FBDS is that we are unable to tow with the Murphy Bed lowered. The dinette slide prevents it from being down for travelling. So, still looking into securing it better than the marginal latches provided.

I repositioned my latches to get a bit more bite, but I still consider them marginal to support it while underway. Hopefully you can come up an elegant solution.

The latches for my murphy bed have been rock solid. The best thing about them is the lack of need to latch them when camping...the bed just folds up and stays. When under way, I've not had a latch become unlatched. Maybe mine (2016 21DS) are different...
