Flagstaff Quality

We just returned from a trip. While fueling up in St. Joe, Mo, I noticed something hanging down under the rear of the 5th wheel. Turns out the rubber sheet that covers the bottom of the rear of the trailer had come loose and was hanging only by the fresh water drain hose. As luck would have it, we were right next to Bill's Camper Sales. The techs went right to work on the problem and had it fixed and we were back on the road in a couple hours. turns out the rubber blanket was attached with FOUR sheet metal screws. All four had pulled through the rubber mat.

Our camper is 4 years old, has quite a few miles on it, but FOUR screws!!!!!

Now it has 32 screws installed. 16 on each side. I wonder what the cost of more than FOUR screw would have been. We have had other issues with the Flagstaff, but nothing like this. I cannot get over the fact that FOUR screw were used to hold up the entire belly mat. I'm beginning to believe that old saying; "The quality goes in before the nameplate falls off."

Possibly you mean the coroplast plastic sheeting covering the underbelly? Looks like a giant sheet of black plastic cardboard? I have a similar vintage Flagstaff 5th wheel and there is no rubber sheeting under it. Odd that yours had so few screws holding it in place. Mine has so many that the one time I had to remove it to add some wiring it was a royal pain to get off.

I'm with Mtelkman... mine has MANY screws holding the coroplast in place. (no rubber sheet either) Are you sure it was rubber?

The sheet is rubber of some kind. It is about 1/4" thick. And there were only 4 screw holes in the sheet, and they had all pulled away from the screws.
