Flagstaff vs Rockwood 5th wheel.....

I have heard over and over again that flagstaff and rockwoods are exactly the same if you compare model to model only thing different are the stickers. As I was looking into trading my flagstaff in I noticed that for some reason the flagstaff 2018 527rlws was selling on rv trader for more than the Rockwood 2720 which is the same floor plan. All the units were new and similar to each other. Does the flagstaff have a higher sticker price and resale value than the Rockwood? Just seems like it.

People set their own prices on RV Trader, so I don't think you can go by that. You might look up the NADA price guide and compare the two though.

FWIW, there seems to be more traffic on the Rockwood vs. the Flagstaff side of this forum. I don't know if that indicates anything, but it's just an observation.

There is Lots more difference than Decals! DEALERS,there are Lots more Rockwood Dealers, thus more area of sales! They ALL come from the Same Mother, but the Father is the one who Sells them! Youroo!! PS Some units are "Taken care of" others are "Junk" by the Owners,Price is dictated by Condition Not Age!

While I'd agree that there are more Rockwood than Flagstaff dealers, that is not enough of a differentiator to explain the differences between the brands. I'd argue that as long as you can obtain Forest River warranty service, people will go to the dealer that is closest to them, regardless of the brands that they carry.

For 2017 they both have the same base dealer cost, $25047 so unlikely there is anything different except decals and interior color schemes. So, there is no underlying reason for a higher selling price and there certainly won't be any difference in trade-in value that a dealer will offer (not saying the dealer won't turn around and ask a higher price for one vs. the other based on what buyers are willing to pay).

same production line

I did a plant tour a few years ago. My impression was that the Rockwood was a little up Market. Rockwood's had more floor plans and for instance ceiling fans standard.

OK
Rockwood and Flagstaff are twin brands and have been for years.
They are built in the same factory and on the same assembly line. Only difference is the outside graphics and interior decor.

There are more Rockwood dealers than Flagstaff dealers nationwide. So Rockwoods are more competively priced.

I like the part about"people will go to the dealer nearest to them, regardless of the brands they carry" Read the Fine Print at the bottom of All Forest River sales literature! Buy Local! Youroo!!

Also depends on your area. At my local campgrounds (Kansas City) you see Flagstaff RV's regularly. Rockwoods, not as much.

Flagstaffs are rarely seen on the West Coast but tons of Rockwoods are here.
Back in 2006, there were no Flagstaff dealers in the SF Bay Area, but there were 5 Rockwood dealers.

I'll go with "availability used" as a factor in price. I'll bet many folks don't realize that Flagstaff and Rockwood are twins. So with fewer Flagstaffs around - they must be "better".

That and my DW likes the Flagstaff color schemes better than Rockwoods.
