Forest River 30wfkss Cable problems/Genesis GT3.0
HI, we have a 30wfkss and just purchased it used. It is in almost new condition and have only had it for a couple weeks. We just tried to hook up cable for the first time and are unable to get cable channels. We have seen that you have to turn off the antenna booster? We dont know where that is. We have our manuals but does not cover that? We have the Genesis GT3.0 with a Toshiba TV. We have tried everything and can only get broadcast channels. I did get it to download some cable channels but could not watch them. Any help would be appreciated. We have called both Forest River and the maker of the Genesis and left messages. We are Camping in Eastern TN and nobody to ask here, no dealers. We would be glad to exchange phone numbers if someone thinks they can explain or help more by phone. Please help!!!!
Thank you in advance,
Jerry and Therese S.

The booster is usually on the same wall plate your TVs cable is hooked to.

Right below the Tv in the upper corner behind the left door is a (Little Green Light) that's it. Also the TV has to be changed to Cable, not Ant. Youroo!!

Every time I see a thread about a V-Lite I wonder if they bought our former "Francis". Not this time though, as ours was a 30IKSS.
I hope someday to see a post that IS from the new owner of her. Whoever bought her got a practically brand new, clean as a whistle RV at a used price, with the oxygenics shower head already in it, and the bedroom TV already mounted on the wall.
I dang near cried when we left 'er at the dealer's lot, and would love to know who is the lucky new owner of her.
These V-Lites have lots of bling!
Congrats to the OP of this thread. You've got a beauty!

Ours looks like this:
It should be mounted behind or near one of the TVs and has the cable from the TV plugged into it.
In our Flagstaff it's in the living room, in my BIL's trailer it's in the kids bunkhouse.
Edit: It's not a great picture, but you can see mine here:
It's the other black wallplate in the upper right corner. The bottom edge of my TV is just barely visible in the top of the photo.
Edit #2: Oh, before I forget. Welcome to the forums!

Doesn't the TT need to be connected to a cable service to get cable channels as in a campground? If you are really into TV, Another option that we found even better was buying a "tailgater". We love ours except in heavy weather. You can select the level of service you want to pay for, turn the service off when the TT is in storage, and the programming options are terrific. We get a great HD picture and both national and local stations. Since it bounces off a satellite it makes no difference if you are in the middle of the woods or in Timbuktu.

Actually it does.
I use to think the same thing (satellite so no geographical problem) but last time I travelled to Canada I discovered my DirecTV would not work in Ontario (not far from Toronto). Long story short is that they are legally prohibited from transmitting signals outside the US ( DirecTV). That prohibition works per my experience.
Maybe there is no such blockage in Timbuktu but there sure is in Canada just wanted to make sure that others were aware.

That and not being able to carry arms...are another reason not to camp in our northern neighbors territory.
But I did notice that you have camped in many of our southern States and it would work there.
That is a shame about Dish cuz it is a nice option where you can get it. Thanks for the comment.

No need for the 'arms' in Canada so that olnly leaves one reason not to camp there and as for that reason, just being there alone will make you forget the TV.
That said the OTA TV you can get there is quite good. For one thing there is no ads by drug companies, lawyers, doctors and others that bend the limits of ethics.

Just to be perfectly clear about the booster in trailers: when the booster switch is 'on' (pushed in) and the little blue LED light is on, the signal from the antenna goes into the TV. You would then put the TV in 'antenna mode' and scan for channels. When the little switch is in the off position (out) and the LED light is off then the signal form the 'cable input' on the side of the trailer is sent to your TV. You would then put your TV in the 'cable' setting and scan for channels.
