Frozen Door Hinge

Anyone have advice on how to replace a frozen hinge on our bedroom door of our 2011 Flagstaff V-lite? The door wasn't closing and as I looked at it more I discovered the bottom hinge was actually wrenching the door frame out of place. I unscrewed the door from the hinges and removed it and discovered the top two hinges work fine but the bottom tab of the bottom hinge cannot be moved even when vice grips are attached. I don't see any way to pound out the pin like a normal hinge and the hinge is riveted to the camper so replacing it would be quite a project. I'm thinking of grinding off the rivets and removing the hinge so that I can at least put the door back on. Right now I can't get the door on, and if I did it won't close. Anyone heard of this sort of problem?Click image for larger version

They freeze up from time to time. I'd try to loosen it up some by spraying penetrating oil on it and tapping on it a little.

If you can't loosen it up, you can buy a replacement from LCI. RV Door Hinge 6 Leaf Black

Not exactly. When we got our new RV the door(only one) was stiff. I lubed with everything I had. Of course I didn't catch with the PDI(pre delivery inspection) and I am hundreds of miles away. It got better, but not "free flowing".

My opinion is you have 2 dissimilar metals that may have corroded and you may can clean. Vinegar would be your friend. Soak a few times(waiting a few minutes between) and see if it gets better. If it does then wash and lube. I think mine is bent or something cause it was days old at the time.

Looks like that bottom hinge is sprung to me, You need to replace it. I have never heard of that problem before, and I have been on this forum along time...

I noticed the bottom hinge pin sheared off at the bottom of my 2017 flagstaff Microlite 23FB.
I do not trust my dealership Coldspring RV in Weare NH to fix my camper. We’ve had the camper for 1 year and have had several problems occur with little help from the dealership or Forest River warranty

I will buy the 15.00 hinge and install it myself as long as it will fit.

I purchased the new hinge and noticed that there are rivets on the existing hinge. Can I use a dremel to cut off the rivets then use screws to anchor the new hinge to the frame? Any suggestions are welcome.

You can use a dremel or even a drill with a larger bit than the rivet. If you drill the heads off, they'll come off clean and just leave the barrel which you can punch in.

It's perfectly fine to use screws to attach it back to the frame.

BT, the same thing happened on our 2016 Primetime TracerAir, this February. We were on a 3 month trip and had to deal with the wonky screen door.
I've had a hell of a time trying to get this resolved with PT and our dealer.
Those are Lippert friction hinges.
So it's good to know that I'm not the only one to deal with this.
