Frustrated

WE ordered a 2012 flagstaff on 2/25/12 . we were told six weeks for delivery its been three weeks and my dealer says he still dosn't have a vin number. we need it for our bank plus were getting nervous that well never get this thing. also read on this forum that the factory rep e-mailed a customer when their unit was about to go on line .just wondering if this in common or the exception. if any one has experienced similiar issues would appreciate some insight. Or how their process went with their newly ordered TT.

We ordered last year. I got the VIN from my sales guy when it came offline.

My experience last year:
I had ordered on March 15th anticipating a pickup around May 15th.
My salesman emailed me May 4th that it was scheduled to come off the line on May 17th.
He called me with the VIN on May 18th.

I would think you should have the vin number by now. Our experience with ours was when we ordered the 5er on 2/15 and the vin number was issued 2/21, of course this was four years ago, but still I would think the vin number should already be issued. We did order our 5er through a factory rep and he didn't notify us about the build, but if we did contact him and ask, he would look up what info he could get on the computer. About the only info he could get was the vin number and when it came off the line.

Thankyou. so are you saying the vin isn't available until the unit is already built.

Joe, I can't say for certain. I didn't ask my sales guy to get it to me any earlier because we didn't have your sense of urgency with the VIN. I needed it for insurance purposes.

You need to understand a bit about the production of these campers. Flagstaff campers are not produced on a dedicated production line. That facility in Millersburg (which we toured) also produces Rockwood...TT's, 5th wheels and V-nose. I'm not sure what their production cycle is or it's length. For example, they may only produce Flagstaff TT's once every 4 weeks. The delivery of your camper is dependent on where they are in this production cycle when your order is placed...shortening it if you're lucky, lengthening it if you're not so lucky.

I recall that the VIN is issued when the unit is scheduled for production in the following week (or two?).

took 12 weeks for our unit 2 years ago. I wish you well in getting your unit in the anticipated time frame (Not meant sarcastically either)

We ordered our Rockwood at a show in Cleveland in early January and are still waiting. I think my dealer mentioned that he ordered it at the end of January. We were not in a hurry because we live in Ohio and can't camp anyway and we were hoping the delay would bring us a 2013 model. Based on posts that I have read in other threads, I think your timeframe is optimistic.

The manufacturers start producing 2013s in early March. I googled '2013 Rockwood' and got hits for 2013 Rockwoods just arriving at the dealer.
