Gap above bathroom door

Just brought home our new 29RSWS. The bathroom door has about a four inch gap between it and the ceiling, and a smaller gap at the floor. I have two teenage girls that are very finicky about their privacy. I am looking for ideas on how to eliminate that gap, short of replacing the door. Has anyone used any sort of weather stripping or something at the top or bottom of the door?

Hi and welcome to FRF!!
The gap is there so the bathroom exhaust fan can do it's job.
Camping in an RV does result in a little loss of privacy.
IMO, the girls need to get used to it.
Sounds travel easily inside a camper.
My advice is turn on the fan for cover noise.
Even turn on the stereo if absolutely necessary.

The door gap truly is necessary.
Without that gap- if someone has the exhaust fan on while taking a shower or using the can- tank odor will very likely be pulled up into the bathroom.
NOT GOOD!
Good luck and happy camping!

The gap is for proper air flow when exhaust fan or AC is in use.

What KyDan said. That’s it, that’s all.
He made the only options there are in an RV.
There’s nothing more to discuss here.
Just have a look at any RV units......it’s an industry design to have short doors.

Thanks all. I never thought about the airflow issue, and that makes perfect sense.

I love it when folks give you their opinion and then tell you that's the final word on your topic, "There’s nothing more to discuss here.", ... of course there's other options, they may not suit your need, you would have to be the judge of that, but there are more options, ... we covered our bathroom door opening with a curtain, we didn't go floor to ceiling with it, but you certainly could, ... another privacy option is, we hung a shower curtain inside the glass stall, not for privacy, but to stop a leak we couldn't locate, but the extra privacy is appreciated, ...

Some RV's are built with opaque bathroom doors...why I don't know except to let more light in.

Install a bigger door, but vent thru the walls. Gotta have the air flow.

Oh Look ! another option.

Don't need a gap at top of door but do need the space at the bottom. The exhaust fan will pull air in from the bottom gap of the door which is sufficient air flow for all odors and such to be expelled out the overhead vent. Actually probably more efficient with less openings for fan to do its job.

I remember my first TT, and thinking that "short door" was just another cost cutting measure on the part of the manufacturer. I was assured by the dealer the short door allowed air to flow more freely. I agree the gap at the bottom would probably suffice to provide an entry point for air being drawn by the fan, assuming there is an open ceiling vent and/or an air gap in the second bathroom door (a pocket door opening to the bedroom in our current TT) if the TT is so equipped. But perhaps that isn't the only air flow scenario. We use MaxxAir vent covers on our ceiling vents to enable us to keep air moving in the TT when in storage next to our garage. We do not keep fans running during those times, and I would think the top door gap could help to facilitate that type of air movement. Venting the TT in that manner does keep it smelling fresh, and we've had no mold or mildew issues (at least not in the 30+ years we've had TTs).

Agree, do not a big gap at top of door, gap at bottom is enough for air flow.

I was referring to the toilet stall.

Toilet/Shower Rm Door

Understand completely. Talking about the door to this room. I live in a Man'f. home, and all our interior doors are gaped at the bottom for air to be pulled from rooms. No return air vents in house, that's how they get around this.

Oh, they'd love ours- the back outer door leads off the bathroom. One is very careful to lock the door when privacy is required.

Cheers

Four inch gap? My Wildwood only has a 1 inch gap at the top and smaller at the bottom. Is a small gap unusual? (sorry for the stock photo, winter and all)

If the door is opaque it would allow less light in.
