Gap in Sofa

On my Vlite, the sofa has about a 12" wide gap that runs along the width of the sofa when made into the bed. It is about 12" from the end of sofa/bed and from the wall. If someone was laying on the bed, the gap would at about the shoulders. The gap has a cloth covering this gap. One could not lay on the bed this way. I would have to lay with head toward the hallway away from wall. Has anyone else had this problem and a fix for this. Dealer said that this was designed this way and does not suggest a fix.

I noticed the same thing on a Shamrock 23WS Hybrid I looked at. I didn't have a lot of time that day but it looked to me like it could of been mounted differently, to eliminate most of the gap and still be able to be folded down. When my ordered unit arrives that will be one of the first things to look at.
