Has anyone mounted a generator on the back bumper of a 21FBRS if so how did you do it?

According to Forest River, that bumper isn't designed to mount anything on.

There are lots of threads here about mounting things on the factory bumper.
A search will likely bring up past discussions.

It is generally accepted to NOT mount anything on the bumper UNLESS you have done some modifications to strengthen the bumper and the mounting points.

There are many ways to do this depending on your particular model.
Reinforcing the bumper with metal bracing or aftermarket items have been discussed here too.

except for the spare tire
in any event, a heavy object hanging that far out the back might cause sway so check the changes to tongue weight

I know about not mounting anything other than a spare on the bumper. I was wanting to find out if someone has done it the steps that were taken. As for the search engine on here every time I use it it gives me nothing specific about my question just everything with every word I printed.

If I was going to do it, I would have a welding/blacksmithing shop fab brackets and make reinforcements to the bumper to support the size of generator you plan to carry. Any welding shop should be able to do it..with a release of liability of course.

having had that camper, i don't recommend mounting anything on the bumper. Also, Forest River doesn't either.

If i had to add a generator to the trailer, i would figure out how to add to the tongue

That is a ultra light trailer.

Say what I Mean- No, not capable without voiding warranty and causing damage.

Mean what I say- I mounted a bike rack to the back bumper of my Rockwood 8289 WS and took it off after half a trip. Bikes went on top of the Truck.

You can try the Tongue mount or just put in you TV.

If you can't find anyone who's done this on this or a similar light camper; I think you have your answer.

add a receiver that's attached directly to the frame, then build or buy a rack.

My son in law had his bumper replaced with heavier steel by a welding shop so he could carry a scooter, works fine. The shop added brackets to the frame, looks better than factory. Factory bumpers are too thin to mount anything.

I made two similar to these. One on the end of each corner, Each one sized to fit a Honda 2000. They are made so that they don't hang back as far as the ones you show. They held up all the way up and back on my Alaska trip in 2016 and are still doing fine.

The second version of my homemade rear rack has been tested for 500 miles with a 200 pound firewood test load. I limit the load to about 100 pounds +/- a little. My plan was to put the generator back there but I haven’t done it yet. Next step is to sit the generator back there and start it to see how the noise/ vibration does. Mostly I use the rack for water/pop/ firewood. Jay.
