Help with radio antenna
I have a 2001 Flagstaff 21FB superlite travel trailer. It's fairly new to me, I've got most things figured out but one little thing I haven't figured out is how to get the radio antenna to stand up straight. The TV antenna cranks up from inside the trailer, but there is another basic car-type metal antenna over where the radio is installed that lays flat on top of the trailer. I can get on a ladder and physically move the antenna around as it is on a swivel, but I can't get it to stay standing straight up. I have looked all underneath it and can't find a crank or anything. Just trying to get a little better FM/AM radio reception back in the woods. How do I get this antenna to stand up?
Thanks in advance

Can you post a photo of it.
Most of those, whether on a spring loaded mount or ball type have an adjustment screw that you tighten to keep it in position.

I do not have a picture of it, but yes I would say it is on a ball so it can be moved around. Where is the screw? Do I have to manually go to the top of the trailer and adjust a screw on the ball itself?

Yes, usually the screw in in the center of the ball.
It is designed to be put up (once you buy the trailer) and then stay in the upright position.
It should look something similar to this...

Best FM reception is with a horizontal antenna, while am likes vertical.....look at the cars that had the antennas made into the windshield glass in past years...

Also please notice that the in-glass antennas are no more. This was because of relatively poor reception on the two L shaped elements, and the popularity of FM in car radios. Today, most if not all FM stations use vertically polarized antennas, as AM stations always have.

Before we cover our RV, I go up on the roof and loosen the screw in the middle of the base, so I can lower it. In the spring, when the cover comes off, I raise the antenna back up and tighten the screw.
