Husky or Equalizer

Hello All! I have been enjoying reading your posts over the weekend and have been learning alot.

We are considering buying a Flagstaff 831QBSS and our TV is 2007 Silverado 5.3L 3.73 4x4 with a tow rating of 7500. I am now in the process of researching hitches. Everyone at the Greensboro RV show swore by Reese dual cam and the equalizer, but the dealer in Sanford who we can buy our trailer from sells Husky. However, tonight the dealer did say he can order what ever hitch I feel comfortable with. He also installs the Prodigy break box.

So what are your thoughts, because if I want to go to the beach by April I have to get this trailer ordered by next week as most dealers do not carry the quad bunk version on the lot. Should I go husky, Reese dual cam, or equalizer??

I love the Equal-i-zer hitch. Built in sway control, easy to use, and worked like a charm. I have no experience with the others...but have used the Prodigy for years. Love it.

i have mostly been a reese person , but our olast travel trailer used husky draw bar and spring bars.
I had no issues, except the ball angle adjustment was a bit different than reese, but nothing that was scary

husky parts also at the time seemed to be a bit more pricey

Welcome to the forums.

All I've had is the Equal-i-zer, so I can't say anything good or bad about other brands.

Prodigy is a very good brake control.

Just used my equilizer once with the settings they did at dealership when I picked up cougar, did pretty good, however did some looking and decided to make some adjustments to the dealer set up, have not pulled with new adjustmnts yet, cept about 10 miles home, seemed better.

really nothing like it
controls sway before it starts
once set up its also the easyist to use

I also have this setup love it, we have been in very high winds, and had to swerve hard when a Semi had a blow out, we are still here thank goodness, I give all the credit to Reese dual cam, just my take on it

I have the Reese Strait-Line and am very satisfied with it. Don't let your choice of hitches hold up your order of your dream TT. The WD (weight distribution) system is installed after your dealer receives your trailer anyway. So unless there is a major difference in the cost (unlikely) and you are negociating the hitch price for the final purchase price, there is no reason to delay ordering just because of the hitch indecision.
