I wanna go camping!!!!!!

Getting the New York winter blues, especially this winter because were anxious to try out our new camper. This is the only place I can go to help keep me in touch with camping. Sure is a great site and so many great people with awesome pics and ideas. Only about 8 more weeks before we can camp. Don't know whats easier, waiting to camping or waiting for retirement!!! (20 months)lol

Not waiting for retirement anymore. Have a medical issue to be addressed next week. As soon as I feel up to it, we are heading down to Texas.

we went to our local state park to take a walk and visit the campground we miss so much. Has only been since mid November, but feels like forever. Hopefully in a few weeks.

It's killing us waiting in Virginia too. Even though it was 74 today we still have until March 25 for our first "shake down" camping trip to a local state park.

x2!

I feel your pain mikdor1. Last week we had temps in the 60s'. I was bored so I said to the wife I'm going to the camper did she want to go? She said yes without hesitation. So I took a battery and hooked it all up and extended the slides and we just "pretend" camped!

We are getting warm weekends forecast in the St Louis area. I do not mind going for a weekend and re-winterizing but I need a long weekend. I am torn between taking vacation days just because the weather is supposed to be nice versus taking them when it will be for sure.

I am gonna regret my choice no matter what.

Be creative

Just go anyway. We got a porta potty with the cassette and put it in the shower stall. Dump in a toilet when full. We carry water with us and use a water basin and then dump it out. That way, I don't have to worry about anything freezing. If we want to go someplace where there's no electricity, we just use a generator .
Just some ideas. 😊

We are still on the road. Other than a week to regroup at home and get tax stuff off to the CPA we will stay on the road until the end of May. Then we will be waiting for school to start and y'all get back around September when we get back on the road. At least I have the boat and can fish the Atlantic while y'all have the CGs full.

After seeing what the forecast for this week-end will be, temps in the mid to upper 60s, we're going. I'll buy a couple of gallons of anti freeze and re-winterize when we're through!

This will be our maiden voyage on our new Coachmen, wish me luck!

I can't wait for spring to roll around.....I'm hoping 2017 will be a redemption year for us as far as weather is concerned. We had a cold and wet 2016.

Currently, our TT is at the dealership (I dropped it off the 2nd weekend in November for some warranty work) in free storage. I should realistically probably wait another month to go get it, but unseasonably warm weather is persuading me consider getting it sooner so I can get started on my project list!

At minimum, I have 8 more weeks before I can consider taking it out to a State Park, but more realistically 10-11 weeks before that can probably happen.

Want to go Camping

I retired in May of 2016, went on a 7 week trip in June and have not been back out... Health Issues suck. but we will get out soon even if it is only for a wknd to the beach. only about 12 miles away. Life gets in the way also with family obligations, Dad moving in with us and needing more of our time.. I'm not complaining as I know my father needs us and we love him to pieces but he can't go with us until i get some handicap stuff set up in the trailer and for him to get in an out also....

We get to go "camping" every week as the state park is on our way shopping. Interesting, there have been between 6-10 campers in the campground all winter so far. Weekends around here are going to be in the 50's, so, maybe more will show up. When I talked to the ranger, he said that they had to heat the bathrooms to keep them from freezing during the winter, so they decided to keep a section of the campground open all year (they used to close Dec. to April) and for the last few years they actually have campers staying there. For now, we'll just drive through, enjoy the area, and wait for spring.

By chance are you talking about Trap Pond? We camp their often and they have done exactly as you stated.

Actually, it is Brighton State Park, Bishop Lake campground, but, I'm glad there are more campgrounds staying open during the winter.

Southern Ohian here. Highs in the 60s this coming weekend. We're going. Plus the kids have off school on Monday, so 3 day weekend.

Hey there Wobbles! We're from So. Il. too and just got a 26RLWS. Any suggestions on places to camp in southern Illinois? Thanks!
