Oh yeah there I would have both running, but honestly I'd be in the Koa or whatever CG. My boondocking days are a bit more limited with the 3 year old.

I might actually make that a trip this season, but prob stay at the Koa..

Well worth the trip ! Bring your fishing rod ! Now I know why you bought those 2,000's, so the kid can unload them ! Another good campground is Frisco Woods. A little further down the island than the KOA. Make sure to take the ferry to Ocracoke village !

Costco Champion 2000w inverter $699.99
Honda EU2000i on Amazon.com $999.00 plus free shipping.
I would say thats apples to apples wouldn't you. Like I said $300 difference.

I will concede to the price difference but as I said in previous thread or post (not sure) but my concern is the long term support for the Champions. They might last forever, just like my Honda might as well or maybe not... But if it does take a poop I can find a repair area right around here, no need to sent to china.

Cabelas usually runs sales on the Champions. I got both of my 2000w for $459 each and then 80 for the parallel kit last winter.

Interesting. We got our 3100 watt Champion for $649 on Amazon. The Honda one was $1099 for 2000W, I believe at the time. A $450 difference and ours has more power.

We love our gennie. It is quiet even when we are running all of our "stuff" including our space heaters. The first time we used it was at a place that has no power hook up and the camp host warned us that the guy living adjacent will call the police on you for using a gennie. We used it and he was none the wiser. And he was outside (it was the middle of the day).

It all boils down to preferences, there is no right or wrong or better ! We camp mostly in national parks with no hookups. Just trying to be good neighbors with the tree huggers . For myself I could get by with a 2,000, and it worked for our pop up. With a hardside less air circulation and the dw demands AC ! Not gonna fight that one !

As I have gotten older and lived and learned, I have become one of those guys who has learned that buying the "best" you can buy of a product usually pays off in the long run. I did a lot of research after our 2000 Honda died after 5 years of hard use. I found nothing but good reviews of the Champion 3100 inverter generator. As I said in an earlier post, I paid $600.00 for it. The Hondas and Yammies were well over 1K for a 3000 watt generator. I decided to give the Champion a try. I made a very good choice to go with the not considered "best" brand. 4 years now we have been running the Champion all year long. We winter camp so it will run all night on a tank of fuel and we never hear it. I sometimes expect to wake up and find it has quit running, but it never has. We have camped beside Hondas and Yammies of similar size and there is not a noticeable sound difference. Spend considerably more if you feel you must, but I can't see me buying another Honda.

The 699.99 is on Costco Canada site. That would explain the higher price.

Harbor Freight has a nice 2000 watt inverter generator for $499, but no 2000 watt gen set will run your AC in hot weather

Ah, that explains it. Apparently they don't sell the 2000 watt unit in the U.S.

Yeah, that's one reason why I was comparing the 3100/2800 units in a previous post. In the south where it appears the OP is, that a/c will be needed before you know it.[emoji30]
