Is This a Suspect Water Filter

Is this a filter that is not worth having under my bathroom sink? It has the course threads. Click image for larger version

I'm fixing to go to Home Depot and Lowes and look for fittings to bypass this and yank it out

That looks like the same filter my MH uses for the entire coach. Other than the cost of replacing a filter, is there another reason you are looking to remove it?
Are you sure that filter isn't for your entire camper? Looks like it might be.

It is for the entire camper. Lots of people on here say to get certain filters unhooked because they will eventually unscrew themselves. I'm wondering if this is one of them. Several have had water damage from filters messing up

It sure is....that's the culprit...do yourself a favor and yank it...have one outside instead.

I wasn't aware of that problem. Now I am. The day is not wasted

Mine is outside, but I will definitely keep an eye on it now.

Thanks !!

Yea I might just pull this out and get an outside stand for it. Heck the water where I'm at now taste good without the cartridge in the filter anyway

LOL good one! I like mine except for filter price. I think the people that have the problem are the ones that aren't tightening them all the way. I'll send you mine when I remove it, I'm going to replace mine with a different type that doesn't use $40 replacement filters.

Get rid of any inside filter!!! Mine unscrewed in my TT and got water everywhere. Took 10 minutes and cut it out and spliced the water lines. I will ONLY use an outside filter.

Mine is located in my outside compartment and I like it but I'm not going to give FR $40 for a filter so its out of here shortly.

Common size filter cartridge.
You can get replacement filters at wally world or any big box home store. Not expensive to do that. I snug mine down just enough so that when I go to winterize I don't cuss the gorilla (me) who tightened it too much.

A whole house water filter from Lowe's or Home Depot work just as good or better than the expensive wally world one does. Just keep it outside and away from the camper.

I just bought mine for next spring/summer/fall and paid $25 for it. Sadly, the link to where I bought it is at home on my home computer and I can't put it here. Maybe someone else reading this thread knows or better yet, knows of a better price.

I looked at Lowes and I only found one filter housing where the replacement was under $20. All the other filter housing replacements were $30 and up!

I bought 2 filters at Goshen $10.00 ea. There was a company there set up in the vendor area, I think the last day of the show deal was 3 for $25.00.

I have an 07 with a "whole house filter". I only had one issue with mine, but it was from the manuf. mounting it wrong. other than that it works great. the filters are expensive so I only use one when I know I will be using the freshwater tank. otherwise I use an inline hose mounted filter and then I have a drinking water filter under the kitchen sink with a dedicated faucet.
