Laundry Chute???

Just picked up my new 5er a Flagstaf 8524 RLS. In the very bottom of the closet unit under the two drawers is a hole in the floor that goes to the underneath storage compartment. My wife says this is a laundry chute but there is no way to put any kind of a laundry basket under it as it is too close to the outside door. Any thoughts from fellow Flagstaf owners.

Yes it is a laundry chute. I have one on my Flagstaff 8528RKWS that I never use. Just plugged mine up.

That is what I am thinking of doing. Not really big enough or handy. Good place to put shoes once I cove the hole.

We have one and use it all the time.
Out trailer came with a medium size basked that is supposed to fit there.
I keep a few extra lawn chairs in the basement and I have found that if I set the basket on top of them then it will catch the laundry.
It really is a dumb design.
I have thought about making some brackets to hold the basket but the lawn chairs seem to do the trick.

We have the same set up and once I worked on we use it all the time now. I installed 4 cup hooks under the opening. I then use 2 sections of nylone line about 1/8" thick and made a cradle to hole the bracket tight to the bottom of the floor. It will support a full bracket fine and keeps it up so I can also use the storage area. I will try to post a picture tomorrow.

I bought one piece of aluminum U section about half inch crossection, cut it into four equal lengths, filed the cut edges smooth. Drilled in each piece two holes to take screws, but had to drill the opposing hole bigger to take screwdriver, secured these with screws to the underside of the laundry hole with the open side of the U section facing away from the hole leave an inch gap between the corners.

Then buy a netting type laundry bag with draw string from Walmart and fit around the Aluminum frame you have just made, draw tight, and its all done. The draw string has a plastic stopper so it can be put on and off quite easily. We have been using ours with great success!

I cut a piece of plywood to cover the laundry chute hole and screwed it down. Now I have a nice place for shoes.

This is how I hung our basket. We traveled 1100 miles last week and it stayed put.

We use ours all the time, plus it is a nice area for smoke clothes from sitting around the fire.

Yeh I think it's a great idea and use it all the time , but we've put a circular sprung (collapsable) laundry basket underneath, it fits perfectly and goes from the floor right up to the chute .

I put 4 long screws at the corners of the opening and have a draw string laundry bag that fits around the screws. The basket went into the house.
