Michelin LTX A/T2 tires

Hello again,

Anyone out there towing with the Michelin LTX A/T2 tires on there rig? I was just wondering what you thought and how they perform. That is what I have on my F150. Thanks and happy camping!

Yes, I have 265/70/17 Michelin LTX/AT tires on my Ram. Best thing I could have done for towing. And, they last a long time, as well. I love them, and I will get them again, when needed. Randy

I will be getting a set of those tires put on my Titan next month, 275/70R18. I will be changing out my standard load tires for load E. Sounds like I'm making a good choice.

Concerning the A/T 2 series tire, I am sorely diappointed with them. I've only had them 2 years and it's time to get new ones because the tread is wore out. They are a nice quiet tire and a soft ride, but I think that soft ride equates to some poor handling issues while towing. I had BFG on before I replaced them with these and they towed a lot better that the A/T 2's.

We met a family camping last month and the father worked for a tire distributor. We got to "talking tires" and specifically Michelins. He said the new LTX A/T2 was not as good as the LTX M/S. According to him, Michelin basically "dumbed down" the LTX M/S because it was lasting too long and introduced it as the A/T2. Based on that, I think I would go with the M/S if you can get it in the right load range.

Mine don't sat AT-2, They just say LTX-AT. Don't know if there is a difference or not, but I had Good Year Wrangler P rated tires, same size, and these are a world of difference. And, my Father-in-law has an 06 Ram 2500 HD Quad cab Diesel 4x4 with these same tires I have, and he has 55,000 miles on his set, and I would still put another 10k on them, before even considering new tires. I had the OEM LTX-AT's on my 2003 2500 Ram. They had 80% tread left at 44,000 miles when I replaced them this spring. The problem with them is that they were the worst tires I ever owned for driving in snow. I would hope the LTX-AT2 would do better in the snow.

I replaced my Michelin's with Bridgestone Dueler-AT D695's. They have a more aggressive tread design but are very quiet. I will see this winter how they are in snow.

Hi there midnight pumpkin. We don't get any snow in Jacksonville, Fl, at least not recently! I love the long wear and smooth ride of these tires; I only tow about once a month with my truck, so I use it daily to commute. I really have not noticed much ride stiffness, as most LT tires seem to transmit to the passengers, and they look good, as well. Like I said, mine are LTX/AP but not "2". They may be different. Randy

If I lived in Florida I would have bought another set of Michelins. Mine were 7 years old when I took them off. They were great for towing, just not good in the NE Ohio Lake Erie snow belt!
