Need help with scare light replacement

Scare light on my V Lite is rusting on the outside rings. Purchased a new one that hopefully will last longer than the one I have now. If I turn off the power to the trailer do I still need to be concerned about the power from the battery? If yes how would I turn that off? I'm not used to doing this kind of work so, yes you're right......I'm dumb about this but determined to do it myself. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If the switch to turn off and on is off, you should be good to go. Watch the cover for a hole. Must point down or it will catch water and leak into where the wires are.

Hmmmm...My V lite has plastic scare lights, if you are describing the light at the doors. I put one in at the bedroom door, as well. Made both lenses yellow. Randy

You might want to consider using the Starlight security replacement. Amazon.com: StarLight SL-2000 Smart Light Round Light: Automotive

I'm not an electrician but I would think you would be OK if you have the light turned off at the switch that controls the scare light you are working on. You could always get one of those little circuit testers to be sure the wires are dead.
