new flagstaff 8528RKWS

close to buying a new 2012 Flagstaff 8528RKWS 5th wheel. Any common problems? Anything to be wary about this product? Sold our Puma bunkhouse. Want a trailer for mom and dad now.

We absolutely love our Flagstaff, very high quality fit and finish. And we have had no real issues in 2 years.
One suggestion, get the atrium windows, as they are awesome. Everyone who walks into our camper just stands there with their mouths open!

Our1st choice was to buy an 8528 but no outside kitchen
We went with the sabre.
The flagstaff is a great unit!

The only potential problem is the gas strut on the door, which after seeing the damage it has caused on some doors and seeing the brackets loose on our new 12 Flagstaff 8528 RKWS, I removed it and left the brackets which I will remove and cover with alum plates. Still debating how to hold the door open without hitting the awning support. Other than that, we really like the unit. This is our 8th camping trailer since 76 and is by far the best. Installed a Dirt Devil central vac and f1100turbo's awning mod with the great help of RJHuser. We are snow birds and live in our campers 3 months a yr in FL.

We looked at the Sabres with the outside kitchen, but the added weight, added cost, and wasted space just didn't make sense for us. Everyone has different priorities. I guess that is why FR offers so many different units!

We've had our Rockwood 8280WS (twin to the Flagstaff 8528RKWS) for two camping seasons and haven't had any issues. The fit and finish on this camper much better than our previous Rockwood.

We haven't had any issues with the gas strut on the door...perhaps it's a lower rated strut (13lbs) than on other newer campers.

Our other problem with the strut on the door was it prevents it from opening over 90 degrees and makes the door harder to close.

We just got our 2011 8528 RKWS back from FR for service. Our floors seperated and became spongy and sagged some.

We contacted FR and they picked up our unit, repaired the problem areas, then went through the entire RV an made any repairs or updates that they thought should be made. We are entirely pleased with the service, the repairs, and the fact that they went way beyond what they HAD to do. My respect went up several notches for FR and their customer service! Oh yeah, they then returned out RV back 924 miles to us all at no charge!

We enjoy our 2011 Flagstaff 8528RKWS !! We love the floor plan and the counter space in the rear kitchen. We have not had any large issues just some small stuff that I could have fixed myself but had the dealer do it as it was still covered.

Hi all my first post newbe I am waiting for our 2013 Flaggstaff 8528RKWS with Diamond package to come in. Ordered it about 7 weeks ago. Moving up from a 27' TT. Had to get new used truck too. Was a big step for us but cant wait. Hope that the Flaggstaff is a good one. The last TT a Terry was very good with no issues. Except the aluminim siding was hard to clean. The glossy fiberglass has got to be easy to clean and wax. How does this unit pull? Is the pin weight enough to keep everthing stable? Any other info would like to here about.

Then we upgraded in 2005 to a flagstaff 832bh22 flagstaff tt and really enjoyed that unit and very very little issues !

We got our new 12 Flagstaff 8528RKWS in Feb and just love the floor plan. I would STRONGLY suggest not getting a slider hitch. Just have the dealer activate the Sidewinder and get a std. non-sliding hitch for the truck. I have a post on this forum about my experience with the slider. Long story short, had the dealer put in a non-slider. Works like a charm.

Thanks dunnnc, I went with a B&W Patriot Non slider and will have the dealer set up the sidewinder/revolution pin box. Should be getting 5ver in the next couple of weeks. Have weekend booked May 5th. If it does not come in by then I guess I will have to use old TT.

Picked up my new Flagstaff 8528RKWS Thurs. looks great. My wife loves it. Great floor plan. Bought it from Elkhart RV. I live in western Canada and was treated great. They beat the big guys price by a lot. Can't wait for camping season to start up here.

No issues. Walk through was short due to I just met the guy who delivered it to Great Falls. Trip was good pulls smooth. I have a 2011 chev 2500 with a 6L gas engine. Works uphill but still pulls good.

Picked up new 5th Wheel sat. in the rain. Was able to do pre delivery walk around inside Everything went as planned, 5vrer is great. Sidewinder wedge showed up and was installed at dealer. B & W hitch is great. smooth and quiet sidewinder works great, Truck pulled no problem. Spent the rest of weekend installing dodads ie. towelbars, TP holder ect. Only one thing that might become an issue is the door closer. Seems a little wimpy. Has anyone made a larger bracket to mount the closer to on the fiberglass side at the head of the door?? I was thinking of making a piece of aluminum (paint it black) maybe 6" long 3" tall with multiple screws drill and tap the 3 screws on the existing bracket. Trying to distribute the preasure over a larger area. Other than that its works good. Any thoughts out there??
