New Flagstaff owner questions (Entertainment related)
831BHDS 2014
I haven't taken ownership yet (spring 2014) but she's all paid, lol
So I have a couple of questions.
1. The Cable Satellite input [outside hookup] is there a separate one for cable/sat?
a. If it's separate how does it get to each TV (bedroom/living room/bunk?)
b. If there is only 1 input outside, how can you get different channels per TV?
2. Genesis 3.0 I have been reading horror stories about the wiring (lack of??) on Forest Rivers part (cable configurations not connected) for TV audio to get to the entertainment center / Genesis 3.0
3. I have also been reading about bad Genesis’s? Thoughts on this unit?

I don't own your camper, but I have the Genesis 3.0
1) The single SAT input only goes to the main switcher wall plate (labeled AUX/SAT) in "most" installations, (maybe not yours depending on who made your roof antenna). See photo for the Winegard wall plate to look for.
See the attached PDF for one way to connect the SAT input to the camper's coax distribution center.
2) I do not own a SAT system (yet), but the system needs to be able to "ride" multiple dish signals (more than one LNB) on a single coax. See PDF.
Here is an article that might help. HOOKING UP MULTIPLE SATELLITE RECEIVERS
3) I LOVE my Genesis 3. However, since the dealership actually hooks up the television and not the factory (the TVs are shipped in the original shipping box), they are seldom hooked up correctly.
a) The correct output to the TV should be an HDMI cable but they cost a LOT more than the cheap 3 wire composite/stereo (Yellow, Red, White RCA plugs) one most dealerships use.
You will need to trash that and buy an HDMI cable long enough to get from the main TV HDMI input to the Gen 3 output on the back for high-definition output from the DVD player in the Gen 3.
b) Getting audio FROM the TV to the back (or front) of the Gen 3 (or any other make of sound system depends on the brand of TV shipped with your unit.
If it has stereo RCA (Red and White) audio out, you can use those outputs to run to any RCA audio input on the Gen 3.
If your TV has a digital output (required to get true surround sound from the TV to the Gen 3), you will need to buy a digital (fiber optic) cable long enough to get from the TV to the back of the Gen 3 (where the digital input is located).

herk7769,
Thank you for the reply. I have the Toshiba (Main TV) so I dunno at time what outputs there are. But I clearly understand what you wrote. I will obviously re-wire it properly now!
(No issues wiring, did it for home TV)
I will report back with pictures in this thread for future readers

My guess from looking at the "features" sheet is that there is only one connector used for both Cable and Sat. Hopefully an owner can answer that question.
For off-the-air & Cable service, the signal is distributed with splitters included in and perhaps connected to the back of the Antenna Booster Control plate. Here's a diagram:
You get different channels on different TVs because the full spectrum of channels is present on the cable and passed to each TV.
Now if you're talking about Satellite (can't really tell from your post), the story gets a lot more complex. In that case, depending on the hardware you have/buy, it may not be possible to get different channels on different TVs.
If that is you interest, please start by telling me if you have Sat service at home and if so, with which Sat provider? Secondly, do you want to use an automated system (like the Dish Tailgater or a Winegard Carryout), or are you willing to setup and aim your own dish (easy enough to learn to do)?
Guys, regarding the cost of HDMI cables (or others for that fact) I would *HIGHLY* recommend you get them from monoprice.com
Friends, coworkers, family and I have been buying from them for years. Always excellent quality, never a bad product and prices... Well, I just ordered 4 more HDMI cables for our RV and the were $2 - $3 each.
Just tying to help.
One more thing, I just installed DirecTV in our RV and we get HD, local channels and can watch different shows (while even more are recording) in the living room, bedroom or outside (basement). Aiming my dish takes about 5-10 minutes. No additional monthly charges (we have DirecTV at home). I've posted a couple threads about it, recently. They may or may not help, but I hope they do, or at least stir up some brain cells and good conversation.

This is why I figure I setup Direct TV in my TT. I already have Direct TV at home so it's 'free'
I'll look up your posts to do some reading.

Herk, not trying to start anything, looks like cablemart sells the same stuff as monoprice, but this (commonly used) example is about half the cost. I would recommend checking both. I will, on the chance cablemart has a better deal or something that monoprice doesn't carry. Thanks for the link!
I found out about monoprice from the AVS forums (tons of audio/vide phile types)
