new member here and just wanted to say hi, my wife and I are new to camping. we bought a used popup last year, did a little bit of work to it and used it a couple of times and really enjoyed it.

last weekend we ordered a new Flagstaff 25BDS from Coates RV here in the MPLS/ST PAUL area. we are excited and nervous and pretty sure after we get it we will have all sorts of questions for you guys.

Congrats

Let me welcome you to the forum and camping in general. Hope you have many good years as we have. We started by camping in our 1976 Foerd Econoline. We had a 76Coleman '85 Coleman Sequoia' and a 96 TrailManor. We have a new Apex on order.

lets go!

Cool, welcome. We were pop ups for years. We are closer to the end of the ride then the beginning, we are in a C now.. The biggest suggestion I have is a real inventory list, we actually use a dry erase marker on matching duel laminated check lists (one in the coach, one in the house), we are at about to revision "g" with no changes in over four months. We have two std launch configurations (or strike packages for my airman brothers), warm and cold weather. For our rig we stock for two weeks of provisions regardless of the plans or final location. Tools, parts, food, clothes, chairs, etc.. If bosco is on the list then it is in the cabinet, period. In reality the list was of even greater impotance in the popup as access was some times limited. Create your tool list by using only what is assigned to the list for maintenance and repair. A 100 piece SAE socket set is dead weight if everything is 10, 12, 14, and 15 mm.. Consider the odd socket for your hw anode. Sounds cruel but dont pack for your neighbor, you dont have the space, and transport has cost. Take what supports your rig, it will most likely be the same items lent anyway.

Consolidate, consinder an extended stay gas kit instead of hauling small disposable propane bottles. Multi purpose appliances, we use a electric fry pan for frozen skillet dinners, pasta, frying eggs, etc.

Last, everything has a home... it goes back where it lives (belongs) after use, period. Space is a preimum for everybody. As we may be out for days or weeks keeping order keeps a small space from shrinking further. Day 6 has to have the same starting parameters as day 2 or the spirit of the trip is at risk...

See you out there.. Look for LiL'Foot on the back of the coach. That will be us.......

Welcome.
Many of us started our journeys just like you. Tents, PUPS, travel trailers, 5th wheels, etc.

Enjoy!

Congratulations and WELCOME! A pop-up should be a nice, inexpensive way to "test the waters" in RV living. Do yourself a HUGE favor. Find and attend an RV Boot Camp. In RVBC, you (along with ~ 200 other "newbies") will receive a very good education which will explain demystify all the systems found on a modern RV. Mistakes made with RVs are often expensive and, sometimes dangerous. After completing RVBC, people will be smarter RV buyers and safer RVers in general. Some insurance companies give discounts to RVBC graduates! RVBCs can run anywhere from a weekend to a full week. The Escapees RV Club and the RVSEF are two groups that run EXCELLENT programs (there are other groups too).

Again, WELCOME!

Congratulations - we are in MN also. We started with a pop up and moved to a tt a couple of years ago. Can't wait to get going this year. You've come to the right place to get answers, the people on here are fantastic. Lisa
