X2. We have both of these items as well, plus a small Hydraulic Jack. Bottle Jack we cannot use....not enough clearance.
Although, I would suggest getting the collapsible 4 way lug wrench. Works great! It's a perfect fit when folded to stash away in your cubbies.

It is amazing that a $30K trailer doesn't even have a jack and wrench. We have let the manufacturers ignore common sense again. As long as we accept it, we will lose.

Trailers have never as long as they have been built come with jacks & a wrench nothing new. Even a spare tire is an extra cost. There may be a few exceptions but that is typical of the industry whether a camper, a box trailer or utility trailer, whether its 10K or 100K. Common sense has nothing to do with it

When you have owned numerous trailers of all types its not at all surprising.....

As long as we say OK, it won't change. Why do we just accept what they give? If you press the dealer you can get a jack and wrench if they want a sale. I pressed and got what I wanted. Their commission has room for a $30 jack and a $7 wrench.

Would it be a jack and a wrench worth using?

I think not!

First thought, if you have a spare, check your pressure before you go. Mine was at 40psi.
Get a Trailer Aid and use it before you have to after a flat and a possible side wall separation. Best to practice when it is not a stressful situation.
While you are getting familiar with the Aid, check your lug torques. I needed to use the impact wrench to get the lugs off before I set them back to recommended torque (and check it before each trip.)
I am sure a could eventually get the rig lifted with a bottle jack, but the Trailer Aid is so much simpler.

Great suggestion on the Trailer Aid Plus. I went with a similar option and bought a pair of ramps from Amazon: Amazon.com: RhinoGear 11909ABMI RhinoRamps Vehicle Ramp - Pair (12,000lb. GVW Capacity): Automotive I haven't even picked up my TT yet but am trying to put a little forethought as to what I'll need. These forums have been a blessing. Oh, a 4-way is a great idea and I'd also suggest a Gorilla Lug Wrench. These pack up nicely, come with 4 sockets, and the arm extends for good leverage. Amazon.com: Gorilla Automotive 1721 Telescoping Power Wrench - Standard Socket: Automotive Sorry for the giant URLs.
Cheers,
Joe

Forgot to add, the Gorilla Wrench also has a thin-walled socket option. Win-win...

Why a 4 Way?

Instead of a torque wrench and socket? Doesn't everybody understand the importance of the correct torque on their wheels? Both the TTs we have owned had prominent advisories in the manuals and displayed on the TTs informing us to check the torque frequently. Maybe I am missing something here? Yes, I am sure the 4 way might be a bit faster but judging the torque on the lug nuts is an absolute crap shoot for most. BTW... I have been told that torque that is too high or uneven can be a bad thing as well.

I just don't understand hauling around another item that is actually redundant. Space and weight being the issues they are.

Yes, I'm the guy at the rest area going around his TT with a torque wrench and tire pressure gauge. Many times have needed to retighten a nut here or there.. maybe just a few ft/lbs, but still gives me added peace of mind. I also am feeling the temperature of the wheels and tires at the same time.

best regards, Mike

Clearly the result of a poor PDI, hope you did not pay for it....

20 ton bottle jack? Wow that's 40,000 lbs. Remember one should only be lifting one side of the trailer at a time and with the front being on the hitch or the ground it's really less than half. For your example of a 12,000 pound camper divide by 2 and you have 6000 pounds or 3 tons. A 6 ton bottle jack should work fine. My rule of thumb then would be to get a bottle jack rated at the weight of your trailer. Plenty of wiggle room left.

Now if your RV is weighing in at 40,000 lbs. A 20 ton jack is in order

I have a 6 ton for mine and it lifts it with ease.

best regards, Mike

BTW..... I've got AAA too but for changing a tire?? And what about when you are not in good cell phone country... or maybe you were just kidding around??

Heck no, my last AAA experience in a car was a snowy day around the DC beltway. Was no fun sitting in it for 3 1/2 hours waiting for the tow truck to arrive. Our first stop was a bathroom!
