You must use a pretty long extension cord when you're travelling...

Like mentioned ... just because your fiver weighs in at 12K plus doesn't mean you need anywhere near that kind of jack capacity. 4 tires and front landing gear or pin weight all absorb the total weight. I had a friend that just ouldn't let this isssue of weight while jacking go, so I borrowed a load cell to put on top of my jack. My fiver weighs right at 12,680 loaded. While hooked to the truck, I placed the jack and load cell under the axle inbetween the spring ubolts like I have for years ... 2740# lifting the tire about 1/2" off the ground as there is no need to go higher. I also have fabbed a bracket to go on top of the jack. It's basically a piece of angle iron to form a cradle for the axle tube instead of a single contact point.
Sitting on the side of the road for 2 hours waiting for AAA to show up just isn't for me ... yet.

I wanted a stubby bottle jack the one I got is rated for 12 ton, I did not have the option to get a lower tonnage rating.

Nothing wrong with that size of jack ... I was just trying to point out, you're not lifting near as much as one believes they are. Now if you're jacking under the frame ... you will be lifting alot more. And yeah ... I know what the manual says and getting into that opposing train of thought is futile to debate on any RV forum.

I just put my 2 2x6 boards down drive up wheel now off ground change. Cheap and less weight to carry. Later RJD

Bottle Jack my butt. Much better solution: Bottle OF Jack and roadside assistance.

It's simple if you let it be.
