on board surge protector

Before we tried out our newly installed shore power, we wanted to make sure the PDI tech was correct in telling us our model has an on board surge protector.

I dragged out every book and pamphlet that came with our TT and scoured through them all.

Couldn't find a thing about a built in surge protector.

Anyone know if he was correct?

It is VERY unlikely! But someone may have more info if you could post the TT model you have. :-)

Very unlikely in a brand new Forest River trailer. I know for a fact CC does not. You can trace the wiring from your panel and take a look. It would be in a conspicuous place and should be easy to spot.

Portable Surge Guards With LCD Display - 30 Amp - TRC 34730-001-LCD - Surge Protectors - Camping World

Dont know if it was a waste of money, but I feel better knowing its on there.

For any others that may be looking, the unit linked to above has a one-year warranty and is made overseas somewhere. Camping World also sells the Progressive Industries units that are "made in USA" and have a Lifetime warranty.
(I don't see the 30-amp portables there anymore, but they are available.)

It's in my signature....

I wonder if it's part of the upgrades in the Platinum Package model we bought.

In any case, I'll be contacting our dealer or FR regarding this...and yes, consider buying our own.
