Ordering V-Lite tomorrow

Well, we are taking the plunge and ordering our V-Lite 30WFKSS tomorrow. We are ordering it with the atrium windows on the living room slide. Anybody have any suggestions or words from their experiences to share? We are looking forward to being Forest River owners.

We ordered our RV on January 9, 2011. It came in and we paid for it on February 19, 2011. We finally got it yesterday. Two lessons.

1. Don't pay for it till you can leave with it no matter how nice the people at the dealer seem.

2. Tell the dealer you want them to send you a copy of the order confirmation they receive from Forest River so you know the RV is going to be made right.

Almost eight weeks of the cat chasing its tail to fix a GIANT error had the dealer checked the OC they received. The last two weeks while the RV made its way back to Indiana then back to us. Forest River did what had to be done to make it right, thank goodness. The dealer could of called Forest River on February 21, 2011 and avoided a train wreck.

Make sure you will get just what you order.

You'll be happy with it; we still love our 2008. There have been many refinements for the better made to the V lite since I bought mine. Happy Camping!! And, CONGRATS on the new V Lite!! Randy

We just took our 2011 wfkss30 v-lite w/atrium slide on our second trip out and so far we love it. Beware of the concertone zx700 console dvd/radio unit. 50/50 chance it will work right from my experience. The atrium slide is great for letting in more light. Plenty of room. Have had some sway issues with ours but I am still unsure of the cause; truck, TT, or wind, or a combo of the three. Our first trip the camper was tongue high. (The coupler is mounted to the bottom of the frame instead of the top like most so you may have to get a lower drop hitch to get it level) I got a lower drop hitch so it set level before second trip but still had sway but it was gusting 30mph winds on that trip. I have WD bars and one friction sway control. TV is a 2000 F-350 SRW crew cab short bed 4x4 7.3 power stroke. I would be curious to know how yours pulls when you get it. I'm waiting on a calm day to get mine back out and see if it tows fine without the wind. Happy Camping!

I am looking forward to towing my V-Lite

Thanks for the info. Concerned about the DVD but have you had any other concerns with the camper? I will be looking forward to hearing solutions to the sway issue and will let you know how ours tows. I cannot wait to get ours and see the atrium slide open in a campground. Please post about your experiences with your V-Lite.

My 08 30 WRLS tows good, I have the Reese DualCam weight distribution hitch. I tow with an 06 Ram 1500 Quad cab Hemi 5.7 Automatic w/ 3:54 gears on 17" rims. My best advice to all trailer towers is GET L.T. rated tires. It really makes a world of difference towing to eliminate sway issues. Also get steeper gears (3:92 or so), for easier pulling at highway speeds. Randy

Congratulations! We've ordered a Windjammer 3008 (same floor plan) and we had initially planned to order the atrium windows as well until we realized we'd be losing all of the interior storage over the dinette and sofa if we got the atrium windows. As nice as the atrium windows are, we decided we couldn't live without the extra storage inside.

Ours isn't due to be delivered til the end of May, so can't share any experiences yet, other than the experience of anxiously waiting!

Congrats on your purchase. We just came back from our maiden trip with our new TT and we had a blast.

We picked up our Windjammer 3008W this afternoon and towed it about 60 miles home with a stiff wind blowing. Overall the trailer pulled very easily. I am using an '09 Chevy Silverado 1500 standard bed with the factory tow package. We take the maiden voyage next weekend. Will post how it all goes.
