Well, for this one time, he agrees it won't take much, and even said it was a *great* find and a great idea! It's even a left hand door, meaning the hinges are already on the back side, handle on the front.
(he usually growls when he sees me rummaging around in his exotic wood stash, but he wasn't home when I did it this time, and that cabinet door isn't really exotic per se)
I like that the handle is routed into the face of the door. It's not a hole in it, just a deep groove, so there won't be and handle sticking up in the way if we want to store something on that shelf. It also has braces/rails on the underside which will fit well down into the opening for stability. I'm thinking a hook and eye latch will be a good idea just in case.
Maybe someone who is involved in the interior of these 5ers will read this. If so, hey! how 'bout installing a simple trap door on that gaping hole!
