Oven size and baking options

We have purchased a 2009 Flagstaff Mini Lite but have not picked it up yet. I have a question for anyone that has the smaller size oven in their trailers. What size of pan will fit in this oven? What sort of things do people make?

cluffsb- Welcome to the forum! I have a Mini Lite but it is in storage so I can't measure the oven. But someone here will get the answer to you. This forum is full of information should you have any questions. I am sure you are waiting for spring as we are in Minnesota. The snow is finally starting to melt. Can't wait to get out!

Just a heads up, the ovens are notorious for uneven heat. We do most cooking outside but when we do use the oven we put a pizza stone in the oven which helps distribute heat more evenly.

Cluffsb-I got my camper out of storage today and parked it in my yard. I was thinking I might flush out the anti freeze and sanitize the water system but the forecast is still too cold for this next week. Predictions are for mid-teens for a low Wed night. So I guess I leave the AF in for another week at least.

I measured the oven. It is 16" deep. 15" wide and 16" tall. But you only cook on about the top 10". The lower 6" is the heating element (below the gray shelf in the photo). Also good for storage, pans, bread etc..

As Wisc wrote, many folks are not happy with the oven until a pizza stone is put at the bottom to more evenly disperse the heat. I haven't invested in one yet. I'm not much of a cook, so far I've used the oven for a couple of frozen pizzas. It worked well for that as long as you rotate the pizza.

Hope you enjoy your new TT when it arrives. We do.

I bought a cheap pizza stone at Wal-Mart for my 2306 and I works good. We only cook frozen pizza in ours and it does a good job and we don't have to rotate it to get it to cook evenly with the stone. I think we paid around $15.00 for a stone.

The heating element in these ovens is in the middle and not movable so it does restrict the space available. It is a strip of gas vents that run front to back in the middle of the oven. Some people put the stone on the oven floor and some on top of the oven burner. I'm not sure how well it works with heat distribution on the floor. I have my stone on top of the burner. I have baked, and done all kinds of meat dishes etc. Just cannot do anything too tall, like a whole chicken, although one of those flattened ones would work, lol. Also have a separate oven thermometer, since the regulator for the oven temp is not that accurate and needs to be monitored. All that said, I am happy to have it!

Oh, and

Congrads on your new TT.

We have yet to cook in ours, and no real plans to do so. It is great for storing bread, chips, cookies, etc......lol.

We may one day, just haven't yet!

Happy Camping!

We have done some baking in our. No meals but cup cakes and cookies and it worked well. We don't have a pizza stone but both were on cookie sheets so maybe that help cook everything evenly.

Baking

Have not been on this site a lot. Is there a forum for baking in these ovens? Is anyone interested in sharing their recipes. We had a stove in our Tent Trailer but no oven.
