Owner of a 2016 Flagstaff 8528 IKWS!!!!

Just bought a new Super Lite Flagstaff 8528 IKWS 5TH Wheel. DW and I are very excited. Love the high ceiling. This is the right size for ythe 2 of us. It took me 3 years to make the move. We pick it up on October 6th and are set up for 2 night stay at a local park near the dealer to make sure everything is to our liking. Any suggestions please do not hesitate to post. First time owning an RV.

Smile 8528 ikws

We like ours very well. Have had radio replaced by dealer, when we go back they will replace t-stat to digaital. We leave ours permanent in Ky, we do not pull it. We have a really good dealer, Caudill Rv sales in Franklin furnace, Ohio. Good service. I hope the new t-stat helps the a/c work better, it has a 15 K Coleman unit. Good luck with your new 8528.

Congrats on your new 8528IKWS.
I hope it serves you well.

The DW and I ordered the 8529IKBS.
A slightly new floor plan based off of the one you bought except it has the bed slide out the back instead of the wardrobe slide out the front. Everything else is almost the same.
Ours is to come off the factory line tomorrow!

We love our 2015 8528 IKWS. Our biggest complaint is about the lack of heat in the living room and way too much heat in the bathroom. I don't know if Flagstaff/Rockwood addressed this in the 2016 or not. I hope you enjoy your trailer as much as we do. Happy Camping

We looked at the 8529IKBS while we were at the FROG Rally in Goshen. Looks like a real nice biggger brother to the 8528. I thought it was a little too heavy for a F-150. Let us know how you like your new trailer. Happy Camping

Get slide awnings. Best investment you can make.

Newbie here. What is a slide awning and where do you get them?

You will get differing opinions on slide awnings. They are small awnings that go over the slide outs. IMO, they are NOT a must have.

Congrats, OswegoLion!

Aug 2013 DW and I got the 2014 Rockwood-branded 8289WS - the "corporate twin" - basically same configuration except for Rockwood decals. Really enjoy ours. We ordered the "diamond" package with 50amp service and 2nd A/C in bedroom. Would now prefer the "platinum" package with metal awning covers.

The factory original tires were Cheapo brand load range C - barely up the the task. VERY VERY strongly recommend (urge, really) installing decent set of ST tires load range D or even better E, on your new 5er.

Aug 2013 we sold our house in Ft Worth TX and lived comfortably full time for 2 years in RV roaming from TX eastwards until we bought little house in Cocoa FL.

We pull with 2012 Ram 1500 Hemi ST quad cab, short bed. Installed the Firestone "Ride-Rite" supplemental air bag suspension to rear axle. No problems towing nearly 20K miles.

Slide awnings are a auto retractable awning over your slides. They will help to prevent leaks at the top of your slides and also keep the debris off the top of the slide. They are an option on some but are already installed on upper end campers. We have had them on every camper we ever had. We have family in the RV industry and he recommends them highly.

Thanks James. I'm glad we have them along with the 2 ac's. The 2 ac's were on when we looked at the unit. Salesman wanted us to be comfortable. It was 90 out but really cool inside.

Would never have another trailer with out slide toppers. Keeps the slide clean, rain off it and it cuts down on the heat in the slides a huge amount.
Congrats on the new unit

The only horror story I have heard is about tires. I hope Forest River puts on good ones with the proper load. I never questioned this when I bought it.

Yes, there are lots of sad tales about blowouts. Of course there is no guarantee any tire will not fail, but decent tires with load range D or E are much more suited to this RV. Forest River installed cheap load range C tires on our RV with 65 mph max speed rating. I always drove about 60 mph, always maintained proper tire pressure, covered the tires when parked, never ran into curbs, but after 3 seasons had a blowout.
