rear bumper on shamrock 21ss

i want to purchase a swagman rv bumper bike rack adapter. Can anyone tell me if the bumper on a 2010 shamrock 21ss is strong enough to accomodate a rack with 3 or 4 bikes and will the spare tire be in the way.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but in general, the bumper on these ultralight trailers is not strong enough to carry bikes. I believe the bumper on my 233S is rated for 100lbs and a lot of that is already taken up with the spare.

you must be new to RV forums.

this is discussed all the time and ultralite trailers, like hybrids have extremely weak bumpers. they are more decorative than functional.
only because the spare tire is right up against the trailer, can the bumper support it without the welds breaking.
a bike rack will hold the bikes out and away from the trailer. the physics of this will eventually break the weak welds, from the bouncing of the bikes, since your trailer has no shocks.

only those who have a 2" receiver welded and braced to the frame and bumper, can get away with bikes on the back.
but, doing this mod, will void the frame warranty, according to the manufacturers.

if you'd like to do some research, just type in "bike rack" on any RV forum.
you'll find hundreds of posts and pics of mods.

also, there's a Shamrock sub-section in the Expandable/Hybrid section here at FRF.

since you have a hybrid, you might want to post there, instead of the General TT/5th Wheel section.

Additionally there is a limit on how FAR from the center of the bumper that weight can be. 6-10 INCHES is normally the limit.

If you think about a weight on an arm a foot or more from the camper and then yank it up and down you will be twisting the attachment point so much it will break like a paper clip you bent too many times.
