Riser Kit on 23lb (same as 2306)

So I purchased a riser kit from the factory for our 23LB. The riser kit is a basic bolt on application. Definitely looks like something that can be installed with some basic 'know how' -- does anyone have any experience and feedback on how to install this kit.

My basic concern is achieving axle alignment with this install.

Anyone that has changed or removed an axle should have some feedback...

the kit will provide enough lift for the 14" rims and new tires. And will give us enough 'comfort room' for some travel in more 'off road like' conditions.

no responses, but found some useful info on the "axles coming loose" link very useful!

here's a forest river product with a riser kit... looks ridiculously tall don't you think???

The riser kit is just bolt on you jack up the unit secure it front and rear with heavy duty jack stands drop the axles bolt the kit on reinstall the axles all the kits I've seen have the notch for axles you shouldn't be able to mess it up .

Are you sure it has the Riser Kit - almost looks like they used the stabilizers to jack the Roo off the ground almost.

subscribed - I would be intrested in seeing what it looks like after you install the kit Darren

I bet that would help me in the fact of not having so much drop in my shank.

What did the kit cost you if I can ask?

The riser kit from the factory was $150 ish. it looks easy enough to install. After seeing the photo from the link above, I wonder if it is necessary to lift the trailer that much. I just want to achieve enough lift to accommodate my 'heavy duty' 14"rim/tire combo. I am kinda thinking about installing a 1/2" shim between the axle and the frame... that would be enough.

I'll keep you posted.

BTW -- With my new lift / tire combo, this will raise the trailer 4". the riser kit alone is 2.75" of lift.

I am running almost 11" of drop on the shank - 4" would help raise the trailer as well as the plumbing in the back - have ran into a place where the plumbing was lower then the curbing that the tube had to go over.

can you post a picture of the kit and possibly a part # - I might be intrested in this kit
Unless I decide to go back to stock tires and then I may not even need the kit but well worth a looksy for that cheap amount

This is the reason I need to lift the camper....

The new tires are 26.6" tall and are 10 ply Super Traxion LT. The stock tires are 24" outside diameter. The other photo is of the lift block that will be placed between the axle and the frame.

When I find a PDF of the instructions for the lift, I'll upload that. The Forest River part number for the lift is FT-22

Thanks for the feedback! The instructions call for brake lines to be extended... That should be easy enough.. the electric brake lines look like there's plenty of extra length to accommodate the lift. have to get up under the trailer to figure that one out though.

Didn't install the FR riser it, but put .5" shims between the axle and the frame for a little lift... also got the new shoes installed.

This gave about 1.8" overall lift over stock.

I'm very pleased with the results.

Darren - that looks pretty awesome - wonder how well it will flex without rubbing though

did the .5" shim also fix the space of the axle seperating from the frame issue as well?

the clearance is close on the 'passenger side' but bounced up and down on the rear bumper and could still see plenty of light between the tire and inner finder. (keeping my fingers crossed that this works.)

My neighbor helped me align the axles so they are 'square with the world.'

I don't know that the shim helped with the axle seperation issue, but we torqued the heck out of the grade 8 nuts... that'll hold em

I have a factory riser kit (less 8 nuts and bolts) for sale if you want. CHEAP.

Pleased with the results.

I would hang on to the Riser kit until you take it out and try the trailer the way it is and then sell the kit.
How much is cheap? LOL
Very tempting but if I wasnt in the process of deciding on either 4.56 gears or going back to the stock tires on top of putting a class IV or V hitch on my truck I would possibly hit you up on the riser kit even though I really dont need it except for looks to raise it with the truck LOL
