Seat Squabs
I have finally narrowed my choice of a new rig. It is between a Keystone Cougar 28SGS or a Flagstaff 8528CKWS. I was reading on another Forum that a Cougar owner found that after a few trips the foam padding in the chairs and dinette seats started breaking down making the seats uncomfortable to sit in. Does this problem apply to Forest River products because this could be a deal-breaker for me?

1st of all, welcome to the forum !!!
I don't have a Flagstaff, but do have a 5 year old Surveyor. My dinette seats and couch have shown no sign of breaking down.....although they are not the most comfortable to start with.

Nah, mine have been fine since 2010. I'm wondering how many is a 'few' trips and how much did that person weigh in at? A 350lb'er could do some damage over time. Keep in mind new units do have warranties and inferior or insufficient padding should qualify.

Good choice on the Flagstaff 8528ckws.. that is the model I have. I am quite pleased with the value for dollar. I have not had any problems with the unit. The furniture is holding up fine. I did replace the mattress with a better one, only because the factory mattress was too hard. The floor plan is great, however the kitchen area lacks counter space, but I think you will find many like that.

Thanks for the replies. I must say I like the Flagstaff best and will probably go for that.

I ordered the 8528ckws after touring the factory and finding it to be an interesting build. That being said, standard equipment RV furniture does not always hold up well. You might want to bite the bullet and order the lazy-boy recliner option. Expensive, but probably worth it.
Remember, home is were you park it....literally.

I currently own a 2013 Rockwood and prior to this one, I had a 2011 Cougar 27SAB. I was very disappointed with the cushions on both the sofa and the dinette. The foam did not retain its shape after day 1 and the seams were letting go. We literally had to re-sew every cushion in the RV.
I am extremely impressed with the Rockwood/Flagstaff design and workmanship. There are alot more features in these than the Cougar.

An FYI on replacing the recliners. Our local LaZBoy store has a room full of discounted or discontinued or cancelled order chairs.
I bought a full custom $1400 chair for about $700.

The D/R chairs (All 4) needed longer & larger Pocket Screws, plus Glue. The seat cusions were fine, Flip seat type. Word of caution if you place (Lazy-Boys) in Fagstaff or Rockwood,(Replace the plastic buttons on the bottom of the chairs where they meet the floor. On your Vinyl floor, depressions will apear from the weight of you & the chair. If carpet you will not see it,but its there. Youroo!!
