Shower head Clips and hose.

I was switching out the main shower unit this weekend and notice there wasn't any silicone around those fasteners.

I'll be adding some myself and re-screwing them to the walls. Seems like a no brainer to me that it should be sealed tight. Especially on the main wall that will get drainage from the shower head. It is just two screws with those plastic mounts which will certainly leak over time.

I approach these fittings the same way I do when installing a window in a house. I seal the top and sides and leave the bottom open to ensure should any water get in there it drains. I also put sealant in the screw holes.

This would probably be a reasonable application for a piece of butyl tape and it will seal the screws. Seadog's comment on the space for water drainage is pretty "right on" especially if the left photo is applicable for what you are doing although that concept may not work with silicone as well since it will thin out

Before we use any shower in a new rig I re-caulk the whole shooting match, including the glass doors. Haven't seen one yet that didn't leak from the factory

We have a hose holder (ring) midway up the side of the shower like that one has. We did not like it. It did not allow the want to be used easily.

My solution is simple, I cut out the round part beginning at the back and made a slot on the side of the ring to allow the hose to come out of the ring. This way we can use the wand to wash and yet it still stays in the ring while traveling.

Could you please post a photo of this mod? I have always removed the shower head and taken the hose out of that ring. When traveling, I just put the shower head on the shower floor. I like your idea better than what I've been doing.

Sure, it will take me a couple days though because Im traveling for work and am not home.

I'm a visual person, so a photo would really help me too [emoji5] I have all summer to figure out how to survive in this thing.

I don't quite understand why this clip was even necessary but I suppose the road bumps knock this out of the top holder and the ring then catches it from falling and cracking on the floor?

All these little tweaks are an interesting piece of the TT adventure. TIA for all your help!

I never understood the purpose of the ring either. For us, it just limited the movement of the shower head hose to make it difficult to use

On our last 4 rigs I just completely removed the ring and caulked the holes.

Our shower head has never bounced out,but all of our showers are toward the front of the trailer. Maybe that means less bounce.

Interesting. So when you shower you simply pop it out of the ring to make it easier but this still holds it in place for whatever reason while you're traveling?
