Silicone application

Yesterday I was inspecting the Furrion mount on my 2019 Micro Lite and the silicone was tacky with black residue, apparently from the rubber gasket. What should I use to safely remove/clean off the tackiness, and what silicone should I use to add a protective clear layer? Thanks.

It is likely not Silicone.

Typically, Silicone is not used on RV's and it makes a mess of things if it is used.

Can you send a photo of what you're looking at?

Correct, DO NOT use silicone on a R/V.

Most things mounted on the outside have butyl tape under the mounting flange (the tacky stuff) and the edges are often sealed with sealer.

Lexel, Geocel ProFlex and other products {Dicor/Alpha) should be used depending on area of application.
