Slide seals folding under

The rubber seals around the outside of my slide are starting to fold under when closing the slide, i.e., the leading edge of the rubber seal is being pushed back under where the seal is attached to the trailer. I have pulled the folded parts back out, but they fold under every time I close the slide. I have also noticed that when closing the slide it is doing a bit more groaning and moaning than it used to. Is it possible that water is getting in at the points where the seal has been folded under? If so, and the only solution to replace the seals, then what can be done to prevent the new ones from folding under?
