Slides and laminate flooring

I have 2012 8528RKWS Flagstaff. We are thinking about replacing the carpet in the living room with 8mm laminate flooring. My concern is will the slide scratch the floor as it moves in and out? Right now it slides on the carpet but doesn't cause any wear marks in the carpet.

Thanks to all the people that know more about these things than I!!!

invert chunks of carpet and put under key areas of slide before extending...works

I don't think the slide will damage the floor.I have just replaced the carpet and will not be reinstalling the piece that sits on the main area vinyl. There are three side bumpers that the slide rides on and that should keep the slide from sliding across your floor. I have not proven this yet but by Monday the verdict should be in.

Depends on slide type. My main slide does not contact the floor. My bedroom slide has rollers that run on the carpet.

We just opened our slides in our 2015 and noticed cuts in our factory flooring have no idea how they were caused we didn't see any screws backed out and no rocks on the floor. I hope we can fix it. Click image for larger version

It's under warranty. Take it in to the dealer and have them repair or replace the flooring after finding out what damaged you floor. I wonder if something rolled up under the edge of the slide while the trailer was being built. It does happen.

I would like to but the closest forest river dealer is 4 hours away. I am going to see if we can find someone closer.

We were just at Forest River in Millersburg for a factory tour yesterday. We were told that the carpet is necessary for the slide to function correctly. A thought: look at the floor plans and you will observe that they offer "minimum carpet" option. Perhaps you could do something similar?

Send them pictures

I used to have a dealer 500 miles away. Thank the Lord we had no real issues. Contact your selling dealer for sure with pictures and at least see what they say. I'm sure you are better off going that route than trying to fix it "yourownself".
