Spare Tire Cover

Hi yet again,

Does anyone know what type of spare tire cover comes standard with the trailers from the factory?

I like the idea of the picture in the brochures of a tan or beige hard cover being available... instead of the dealer slapping on his ugly white vinyl cover hoping for the free advertising.

Thanks!

Tell him you want the hard plastic cover that came with the camper or you will write "Screwed By:" across his vinyl one.

Ours came with the hard beige cover as well, might be part of the big options package?
And I pulled all of the stcikers off our camper, dealer's, the nitrogen tire one (we didn't refill when changed tires anyway), and all of the other stickers that would just look ugly in time. I must say that the camper sure looks a lot cleaner now!

I took my stickers off too. it is amazing how many there are! I even got rid of some on the inside. I left the Forest River one- I like that one.

I pulled off all my stickers too except for the FR ones. Looks much cleaner now.
My spare is covered by a thin white vinly cover that is looking fairly ragged after only one season. I am going to replace it with something better this year.

FYI Caution, just be careful if you get a plastic spare tire cover. If you look at the support rib of the cover at the lower right hand side you can see a crack, this was caused from tighting the wing nut too tight.

When the plastic covers are new they are durable and will flex, but as time go's on and the plastic is expose to sun light the plastic gets brittle and will crack. My spare tire cover crack when it was 3 years old.

Wade, a good way to keep the crack from spreading is to drill a small hole right at the end of the crack, making sure that the end of the crack is completely covered by the hole. I have used this method on plastic, aluminum, and sheet metal, and it seems to work good at stopping the crack from spreading.

I have the beige on the Roo... but it isn't beige any more.

I used the spray paint for plastic then hand painted.

Chap, i just check the condition of it and so far it has not grown now that the camper is 5 years old and i have not touched since last year. I remove the cover to make sure the air pressure is correct in the spare tire before the season starts. Thanks for the suggestion, i will try it.

I have the 15" tire size one with the bumper mount (NEW) that came with my V-LITE. I would say it is F/R gray in color. I removed it befoe leaving the dealership, never to be used agin! I think they look like the retro 50s cars. Youroo!!

It depends on the trailer as to if they have a cover or not. We have a hard cover on this trailer, our Edgewater did not have one and the dealer put a cover with their Logo on it. My SIL and husband just bought a new K-Z and it has no cover from the factory so the dealer is putting one of their Vinyl tire covers on it. I left all 2 stickers my dealer put on as I am proud to tell people where we got our trailer from.

Our mini lite 2011 came with a black vinyl cover but this cover is very thin and the quality is not terrible. After it is wornt out I will get a more thick one from my dealer. The dealers put their names on them but usually the one that they sell are of better quality than this thin one.
