Steps rivets maybe weak.

It appears the steps from Flexco have ALUM. Rivets. 2 have busted, FR has replace it with the same step. Be aware!

Lost the bottom two steps on the road somewhere when they probably deployed with a bump. New steps on the way from FR. Will look into replacing the rivets with some bolts. Might be able to get the dealer to do it after talking with the Tech there.

Ours popped out the very first day towing. I saw it in the rear view mirror right away and was able to pull over and bungee them on. No damage. That is now part of the pre-travel list.

Are these steps only on Flagstaffs or are they used on all Forest River products?
Just would like to know if it is a concern for us.

Thanks for this tip. My stairs are starting to get flaky. I will be bungeeing them from now on until I can get some locking bolts on them.

Don't grease the hinges. Rust is good. Keeps them in place when travelling. True story.

I have had to replace two bent rivets on the steps with short stainless steel bolts. So far it seems to work well. The bolts have made a difference in the bounce of the step, lot more sturdy. I am thinking about replacing the ones that are not bent.

seriously, who RIVITS a step that has to support the weight of people + the extra oomph of going up or down the steps puts on them! bolt that stuff up!

Same problem here. We had two rivets break on our Flexco steps. I now keep some extra bolts nuts and lockwashers in the tt along with the drill I normally carry for emeregency fixes.

We had a similar issue too. Fixed it the first time with a bolt. Then a second one pop'd out. Dealer sent me a new pair and I replaced it in my spare time. Seem pretty cheesy though. Added one of those swing down supports from Camping World and that helps take some load. Also made me realize that I needed a kit of repair bolts and nuts.
