My money is on an infestation of some kind.
Mice or bees. Something is chewing up the Styrofoam.

We were at a (Border Patrol Checkpoint) yesterday and they had (Bags) of the white stuff laying around a trailer! Youroo!!

I'm gonna guess mice. Had heard mice chewing one night in my old trailer many years ago, when I parked it in a field. Caught 3 mice the next couple days. Never could find where they got in or where they were chewing, even after having it another 7 or 8 years.
