Toilet seems to be blocked. Help!,,

So far I tried a snake for a good 45 min. Plunger didn't work. Not sure if the pipe is 45 degree or 90 degree bend and how far down the bend is. I used a 6' hose and pushed it down until I hit bottom. 3 caserolez of boiling water. I wish there was a diagram of the sewer system.

This happened for first time in our Sunseeker during our snowbird FL winter when my mom was staying with us. Toilet bubbling, emptied tank, still getting TP stuck up to toilet bowl. Hubby flew home days before and I had to deal with it. We have this broomstick type thing that connects to hose evidently. I just stuck it down and pushed. There was resistance and then it gave way. I added a few gallons of water and it went down. It happened once more, then was fine. Yuk. Had several ladies on our street offer their husbands to help! One even came over on his own.

Do you have a black tank flush? I am curious what happens with the drain open and running the BT flush? Would it help clean it out.

This has happened to me twice. To clear the clog, use a stiff stick or broom handle, stick it down the toilet as far as it will go, and start stirring and pushing the clog away from the bottom of the pipe. When you can see the bottom of the tank, the clog is clear. Fill the tank with water and flush everything out. As stated before, use plenty of water when you flush to prevent it from happening again.

I have a Flagstaff 28rkws. They apparently put 1 or 2 90's in toilet drain. Snakes are not strong enough. I bought 5 feet of fairly stiff 1 inch black tube/hose. If you push & twist that will get through the blockage.

I used to use a tree branch on our old Flagstaff TT,,, then we went to single ply TP,,, no more trouble !!!

Time to send the family on a road trip, while you deal with this.

Cover your work area with a disposable shower curtain.
Vicks under the nose, remove the toilet and use a flexible but stiff tool like a plumber's snake to push the stuff down. Pour some water from a pitcher into the pipe to check for flow as you work the snake in and out.

Once you get the water flowing reliably, a 72 hour treatment with rid-x or rv-digest-it will soften and dissolve the big stuff you knocked down. Fill the black tank SLOWLY from the top until you see the water in the elbow to the black tank. If you do not have an elbow in the drop to your black tank, you have a "Tower of Doom" and the 72 hour treatment may take a 5 days to a week of soaking.

Education prevents this. ALWAYS fill the bowl 1/2 to 3/4 with water when doing #2. Then double flush.

Trying to get "lots of hang time" on your black tank when dry camping is false economy (IMO).

TP with no water is a disaster waiting to happen. Multi-ply non-dissolving TP is the worst. If you are a "wad" type TP user, you MUST use RV paper. If you can get by with a few sheets, you can use a slower dissolving one, but use lots of flush water.

It sure sounds like some units can handle regular TP,,, some can't !!!
All about the plumbing,,, we have one bathroom @ home that will plug up every time we load it up,,, and one that will handle most every thing !!!
I even switched the stools years ago,,, No Help !!!

Not enough water in the tank to start with.

Not enough water during flush.

To much paper being used per sitting.

Plastic tank cut out blocking the drain hole.

Drain valve left open.

I may have missed a few...


I'd try a garden hose with a jet nozzle down the toilet, water on full after that.

Finally got the toilet cleared out. We used hot water, plunger, vinegar and baking soda and snake over and over again. I got it cleared out early today. We learned our lesson on toilet paper use and using plenty of water when we do. When the black tank is full we will clean it out and use the flush system several times to get it all cleaned out.

Sounds to me like it may have been something more than TP ???

I could tell ya some stories of things I found in toilets in rental property,,,
but I won't go there !!! Just ask your plumber friend !!!

We have the 8528RKWS ... all I can say is prefill, double and triple flush, and lots of water while flushing. Prevention is the best solution!

That was a night I'll never forget!
