Towing Info.

Good morning everyone,
We have ordered a new MicroLite 25KS and wanted to ask some questions on our tow vehicle. We have a new Ram 1500 Laramie Quad Cab, 5.7 Hemi, with 8 speed auto trans. and a 3.21 differential with anti-spin. Does everyone think that I'll be OK with this pick-up or should I look into changing the differential gearing? We didn't order it in the beginning because of the reduced fuel economy. Thanks for your replies.

As I just learned recently (and others will chime in) your big limiting factor is the low payload capacity of the Ram 1,500. In fact, the loaded tongue weight of your Micro-Lite will take up 1/2 to 3/4 of your trucks payload capacity alone. And thats before you put passengers, gas, camping gear in your truck.

Good morning,

Can you provide the CCC from your truck ? Sticker located on drivers door frame reading something to the effect of "weight of cargo and passengers should not exceed" # ?

Also then enclude the weight of the TT, and tongue weight ?

This will greatly help in you in getting the info you requested !

Try this little calculator. It will give you an idea.

Don't include gas against your cargo capacity. The truck's curb weight is the weight of a vehicle without any passengers or cargo, but including all necessary fuel, fluids and standard equipment. Larry G.

My last Ram had the 3.21 axle and our trailer was slightly heavier than yours. With the tow/haul engaged for optimized transmission shifts and a blue ox wdh, we had absolutely no problems at all, regardless of terrain (i.e. Hills). It was never worrisome towing. In fact, the rig worked very well.

Thanks for setting straight my attempt to describe payload. I just gained another 180lbs payload capacity on my truck!

You have 2 options-
1. Hook it up, realize that it's fine and enjoy camping.
2. Stress about it. Go weigh it. Weigh it again if you load differently. Want to take the kids/grandkids this time? Weigh them. Recalculate. Stress some more.

I think you get the gist and can gather what option I advocate you choose.

You will be just fine. I'm pulling a Shamrock 23ikss hybrid with a 2013 Ram 1500 hemi. My hybrid is heavier with a higher tongue weight than your micro.
No problems with a E2 wdh.
