It's absolutely true!! However, it seems to only be available on the 3500, not the 2500.

I got it on my 2014 2500.

Towing with 1/2 ton trucks

Why would I lie about it??

I have gotten free CUMMINS twice in the past two years.

Actually, if this deal I'm working on goes through, it will be three times..

Wow! I'm thankful for all the insightful counseling I've received by reading completely through this topic.

I now understand, and accept, that I am a 1/2-ton, 5th wheel bigot. The beginning of any recovery from a psychological problem like I have, is confessing my sin.

😆😆😆😂😂😂🙏🙏🙏

I don't think anyone ever said an F150 wouldn't handle a 5th wheel.

Just not a very big one!

The OP has almost an identical rig to mine, so why 5 pages of all this drama!?

Okay folks, this thread starting to reminds me of a hockey penalty called "embellishment"
Its a term used in ice hockey to describe a player trying to get the attention of the referee by embellishing an infraction from an opposing player in an attempt to draw a penalty.

Anywho...We need to keep posting to "Towing with 1/2 ton trucks"

Well to get back on track, I tow with a 2012 F-150HD. Although I am sure some of the weight police will pile on telling me that I'll kill or injure anyone in my path.... Rig is in my sig. Over 15,000 towing miles including lots of winter towing and I've yet to have anything burst into flame. Pulled from Ontario to Key West and back, zero issues. Combo has been CAT scaled and I am 100% within spec.

Before anyone says it (ya but can ya stop it), yes I can. I was forced into a panic stop a few years ago from highway speed on an interstate in MA. It stopped perfectly straight and without a problem. Couldn't say the same for the vehicle in front of me that smashed into the guardrail.

Not sure why these threads always encourage those with a myopic view to come out of the woodwork. I hope the OP is still reading. Drop me a PM and I can fill in any of the holes with my combo you'd care to ask.

Now back to my popcorn for the next round....

Sorry to hijack but do you mind if I ask what a ballpark price would be for a 2500 Laramie Crewcab in Canada with free Cummins?
I'm looking to export one to Australia and may be better exporting from Canada.
Our dollar is the same (poor) value.

Towed with a F-150-----

I used a F-150 towing a Rockwood Fifth wheel for four years. It was a 5.4L
with Firestone Air springs. I always knew the F-150 was too light of a truck
and made do with what I had because of cost $$$$$. The F-150 was OK on flat ground and would down shift on the slightest grade. Was really under powered when in a very hilly area. The gas mileage was terrible for I would have to fuel up every 150-175 miles to keep the tank with 1/4 empty mark. But I made it work with what I had at the time. My speed was always 60-62 MPH.
I just finally retired the F-150 for a F-250 P/S. Let me tell you there is no comparison between the two, fuel wise, braking and you can hardly tell the
fifth wheel is behind you. The F-250 Hardly squats down when loading the
weight of the camper onto it.

Just my TWO CENTS between the two trucks.

Good luck with your F-150's

60ish. Depends where you buy.
Taxes are a factor.
Can you import a left hand drive?

I have enjoyed reading this entire thread. Folks are passionate about their trucks. I took my 2013 GMC 2500 Duramax up the Coquihalla from Vancouver to Kelowna where I picked up the Work n Play 18EC. Short little toy hauler but it weighed 5,650 lbs empty. The last time I drove back down the Coq was pulling a 7,000 farm tractor on a car hauler trailer with a Chev 2500 gasser. The grades on the Coq are impressive and I had no option other than riding the brakes. It was an extremely unpleasant experience and I had to replace the front and rear brakes once home. The 2013 Duramax with the engine brake was NIGHT and DAY difference. I don't think I touched the brake pedal once on the drive back to Vancouver. I was so pleased with how the truck performed. I knew the trailer was behind me because I could see it in the mirrors but I throughly enjoyed the drive.

I guess my point is that if you can afford the bigger truck you'll enjoy the ride. My two cents.

We can import a left hand drive but we have to have it converted to right hand drive to be able to use it.
There are several companies in Aus that do these conversions.
Do you know if Canadian taxes would apply if I exported it?
Thank you for your help.

What a pain about converting it.

We can drive/import RHD and leave them alone.

No clue about exporting taxes.

It is a pain but unfortunately the only vehicles of this type with so much power, torque and towing ability are American.
The rest of the planet seems to be happy with a lot less truck. (not me though)

So about 42K US? That's amazing. And not a plain Jane or a fleet model?

I suppose to bring one back to the states would take an act of congress.
Does a Canadian model meet the US emissions?
Not a Ram guy but that's a good damn deal.

SLT.

There's only two emissions standards.
California and everywhere else.

I've imported two jeeps from the south. Not hard.
Age might be a problem. Might be too new.

I tow with a 1/2 ton truck, this is our second 5th wheel on the same Tundra. The Tundra is a 5.7 with the tow pkg. It has e rated tires and air bags. Has been paid for since we started towing, had a class C before the 5rs. Never towed with anything larger, the Tundra does the job so until it is worn out it will be our tow vehicle. Over 80K on the clock with about half of that towing.

Imagine that, you crazy Canadians get all the breaks even if you still incorrectly call ham bacon.
