Use of Power Vent

Most TT have a power vent in the bathroom, usually a Create-a-Breeze or Fantastic Fan. How do you use this fan? Is it recommended to install one in the bedroom to help battle condensation? Would one serve similarity in the living area? Your input would be appreciated. As information, we have a new Flagstaff 26RLWS.

I replaced the "stock" vent fan in the bathroom with a more powerful unit. Since I'm in FL, it helps dry things out faster. I also added a MaxxAir fan in the front bedroom. In the spring and fall, when the temps are nice and the humidity is still low, we open the vent and turn on the fan. Just remember to open a window at the end of the camper away from the fan(s). That way you get a 'cross breeze' through the camper and don't end up with air backing through some foul smelling place. Upgraded fans mean plenty of air flow!

Picking up my new unit soon and will probably be replacing fans again. I don't mind doing mods on my stuff.... just a way to make the unit "mine".

If you have an exhaust fan on in the bathroom you will want to turn it off when you flush. Pulling that air up from the nether world is not...uh.... pleasant.

Consider it the RV version of a 'whole house fan'. I installed one in my cargo trailer conversion (with windows). They are really nice to have on mild temperature days. My model has a thermostat so if starts and stops based on temperature. And yes, spring for the cover on top. Also, we kinda like the 'white noise'. Not that they're particularly loud.

We ordered our trailer with a second fan in the bedroom. I was surprised on delivery that the fan only sucked up, not down. (Not having had one in previous units)

We found to our delight it worked great, especially with the bedroom door closed to create the feeling of a breeze through the open window of the bedroom, even if there was no air motion outside at all.

Devilscreekw, models are available that flow both directions (reversible), and with a thermostat. That's what I have in my trailer. Love it.

I have 3 of them. Both bathrooms and living room. They are a must have if you use the shower at all. Also on days that are warm but don't want the AC on it really works great. Get rain covers for them. We run them sometimes while driving.

I insist on having a reversible fan over the bed!
We occasionally camp off the grid and being able to have a cool 12v
night breeze blow down on us is -priceless-!!!

We have a maxxair but what ever brand you get just be sure and
get an all weather top for it. Nothing nicer than laying in bed listening
to it rain and still being able to have the fan on/open.

Maxxair makes covers for all brands. Get one!!

I installed a switch to reverse my bedroom fan so I can either bring air in or out.

I do run my Bathroom fan before turning on the shower and toilet usage. I have you tubed the ventilation thing for humidity control and several winter campers state to leave it cracked open. Two thoughts on this (winter camping): 1) The DW leaves it cracked open due to condensation forming on the metal lid and then dripping on her during her potty time. 2) We use a whole house dehumidifier when cool, raining, and or usage of ceramic heaters (minimum air flow). First clue is condensation that will form on the windows. We have to dump the water tank on it daily or when we get up and before going to bed. Hope this helps! Happy winter camping!!!

I guess you haven't had any problems but normally if the bathroom fan is on when you flush the toilet the fan sucks the fumes from your black tank into your camper.

Happened to us also...specially if their is no windows else where crack open.

My dealer said that he would be getting power from the ceiling light in the bedroom.

I would be surprised if it wasn't wired already. They don't make each wire harness custom for each rig.

I agree with Phil. Most wire harnesses are standard even if you didn't get the option it should still be wired.

I don't have a problem with that, my tank smells like perfume!

Installing 2 power fans , one in bedroom and one on the living area. The bedroom fan will be reversible. We will pickup our trailer next week then take it out over the Valentines Day weekend. I'll report on the fans when we return.
