I got my answer. per Forest River warranty rep:
"It is the condensation vent. Are you having issues with it?"
"It is attached to the aluminum channel on the roof and helps vent the roof through the framing channels."
I asked:
"Would it be possible to cover it with window screen to prevent wasps and ants from getting in? thanks for all the info!"
his reply:
"That shouldn’t be a problem."
So now I know, I will get some screen and cover it.

I believe that the vent outside the kitchen window is for the galley tank. I've back flushed the galley tank and had water come out this vent when the tank is full.

We took our trailer for winter storage yesterday. Our dealer says the same as the Forest River rep...attic vent. I noticed ours has a screen of sorts under the vent which is a piece of black plastic with some holes (approx 1/8") in it. So, likely no wasps in the attic....just under the vent cover. Maybe if it gets a fairly fine screen installed, the screen ought be checked to ensure it's clear and doesn't prevent the space from "breathing" properly?
