Wanting to install Progressive inline surge protector

Well, I may have messed up. I bought the Progressive in-line unit for various forum reasons around the web. Partly because of eliminating the potential theft of the ones shown here. However, when checking for Youtube videos it seems Rockwood/Flagstaff are not showing the same wiring situations as the videos in that either the size of the wire coming in from the connection plug, or not having....at least an accessible.....junction box to replace with the Progressive unit. I'll need fotrum advice or will call Progressive to see if they can walk me through it. Example....coming directly behind the shore side connection, is simple 10 gauge romex wire. It loops up, then down through the floor and seems to run straight over and assuming it goes directly up into the breaker box. But all the heavy duty wires in the breaker box are single 8 gauge wires. Not sure if I can splice the Progressive right behind the shore plug on the camper or not. Suggestions welcome! (Jim) BTW, I have the Flagstaff 25BHS which is the sister ship to the Rockwood 2504S.

I cut my wire that ran directly from the shore power plug. Installed EMS there. The wire then continue directly into my "breaker box". Not sure what gauge it was. My wire was in an orange sheath.

If you have a cabinet on the other side of the wall where your distribution panel is there may be room to install the EMS there. That's where I installed mine, just had to move a couple things so the EMS would sit on the floor. Took about an hour from start to finish.

No such luck Srapper. They fooled me into thinking that, but I had to cut an access hole inside one of the storage areas for access, but there is only the orange romex wire connected to the back of the campers 30amp inlet. There is no junction box to swap the surge protector with as shown in several videos. Looks like I'll just splice into the orange romex as you may have done?

Inside the orange sheath (indicating 10 gauge wire for 30 amp service) you will find three wires. A Black (HOT) White (Neutral) Bare, (Ground) Follow the installation instructions regarding which goes where.

Thank you Douglas. I was just confused by what I was seeing in videos, knowing it didn't come close to matching what I had. I think I understand now what needs to happen. Thanks for your response.

FWIW. On my install. I pulled the breaker box out. Lots of slack in all the wires. I disconnected the wires going to the 30 AMP main breaker. Pulled that wire out of the breaker box and made it the input to the PI unit. I had bought a 4 foot length of 10-2 WG from Lowes. Attached that to the output of the PI and to the breaker I had disconnected the original wire from. Figured out where to run the display wire and put everything back together....
FWIW, the sheathing on the wire I disconnected from the breaker did have an orange outer sheath.

X2

My 30amp orange wire was 10 gauge. As residential code would require for 30 amp.

X2. I went one step further because I got tired of trading in trailers which had them hard wired and this time I put the wiring onto 30amp twist connectors.

we just sold our 2009 Bunk house and removed the unit. it will be going onto the 2018 Toyhauler when we pick it up this Friday.

jim,

I have the 2405s so I put it in the storage bay under the bunk. Also put in a fireplace under entertainment center.
