What about the expense?

After perusing this forum for the last few years, I can't say I remember the topic ever being discussed that I am about to mention.

We all shop around for which RV we think would make us happy. Then we try to strike the best deal. After we get the rig home, we start(and never stop) buying "toys" and other "necessary" stuff that we just can't do without. There will be items that break or wear out and need to be replaced.

Just wait I'm getting to it!

I keep a folder of items that I purchase, especially things that have a warranty and the receipt. I'm a working man(still) so I'm not on a so called "fixed income". Yeah, money is tight but when it comes to wanting/needing something, I usually get it. I shop around for the best price, read the reviews, if any, and make the purchase. Lately, since I can't go anywhere but work, I've been buying some more toys. Not very expensive items but things I've been wanting.

So, here's the question and I hope you understand where I going with this!

Do you buy things only when you need it or if you've really been "wanting" something, you buy it?

Generally I buy as needed, IF I want it, it goes before the PICOMM to await approval.

So, what do you get to do?

Wait a minute, we're going the wrong direction!

The question is: Have you got all the toys you need/want?

I know your answer already FordIdaho !

If SHE lets you have it.

We don't need any of this stuff. We could just stay home.

Our personal preference is to keep it simple when we RV. We have a coffee maker, $15, and a toaster $6, most of the stuff we put in the camper are left overs from our own house, my mother-in-laws estate or yard sales. A little Walmart and Big Lots stuff thrown in. Other than my ham radio stuff that only goes along part of the time, we don't take much in the way of electronics with us.

We got a good deal on the trailer, what some call an "entry level" RV. It's nice enough but not too fancy. Any more frills and it would be too heavy for the F150.

We did splurge on towels and linens. The trailer linens are nicer than the ones in the house and they are just for the camper. Go figure. It's just what we wanted. It feels good after a "navy shower" to have a nice towel and bed sheets.

"In all things, moderation"

If you are a retired airline captain, your "moderation" could be a Class A DP. Go for it. My moderation is a bit more... ummm, economical.

I guess the other guiding principle is own your stuff, don't let your stuff own you. The last time I was on the Camping World web page, I only spent $25. You have to develop the knack for looking at stuff and saying, "Oh that's cool!" and then move on. No purchase required. Other wise your place soon looks like a scene from "Hoarders" and you bank statement looks like road kill.

We lack a few things.

Four step steps which are next as they are for her.

Some type of strong arm system for all.

I can not think of any more for now..
We have been shopping for over a year.

10-4 on the road kill.

I must be sick, I was "practicing" last night on the CW website trying to get my prices as close to $99 to get free shipping.

I need a hobby!

Most of our "extras" are things we've seen for sale and I went home and duplicated (with a few tweaks) just to see if I could.

(chuckle) DH wears the pants in this family. I just get to tell him which pair to wear. /snark

Yeah, we went a little nutz when we first got back in to camping last year. Those sort of purchases have slowed WAY down. We have all the needs, and can't think of any other wants right now. Who'da thunk it???

Yeah, there are JT Strong arms in our future, as well as some sort of set-up for organizing the basement storage....but hey, we're in no hurry for those.

We did buy the Jack King antenna last week. It was on sale at CW....marked way down. And then CW duplicated our order. (eyeroll)

Now we have one installed on the 5er...doubled the number of channels we get!....and one sitting in the box at home. We'll either sell it or return it.

DH got his (nice) annual bonus in March. We decided to just set it aside for camping site charges and other camping expenses. 99.9% of it is still there.
