I direct a department at my employment and if my QC department did there quality control like the way Flagstaff does, I'd fire them.

I notice names stamped on the door jam, is that who completed the QC for the TT or just the doors?

I have a new 2014 831bhds and the following challenges are listed below:

Inside microwave has power, but will not start. Outside microwave same model works fine.

Water leaking from Dometic toilet, looks to be the vacuum seal defective.

Range hood, no power. Fuses all good at the panel.

Quirks:/dealer oops
Bedroom TV is not connected to the Genesis, I'll get in there and see if there is another output or use a hdmi splitter to deliver DVD to the bedroom (anyone else have a better solution??)

It to me is unacceptable that the water leak, dead hood range and microwave are challenges right out of the factory. Even the screen doors are extra tight to close. My children cannot open and close the screen doors.

I do hope Flagstaff line of staff read this and straighten up their act.

At the end of the day, these things will get addressed and rectified but it's sad to see a new product [camper] failed "right out of the gate"

Now keep in mind this is our third camper so we are not new camper owners. I'd be happy for them to send me the new parts and install them myself.

I will follow up once I speak to them tomorrow.

no different than the horrible service most RV dealers supply. Not many places would stay in business like that, but since they are pretty much all the same, they remain.

Wanna trade problems? It's not just Flagstaff, beleive me, it's the whole industry. If you fired everybody in the RV industry that didn't live up to our high standards and high expectations in a unit, no matter what the price point, the RV industry would be no more.

I hope you can get your issues fixed. Very easy fixes. Replace microwave, fix toilet. Stuff you can do at home.

When you buy a FR, at the same time you are hired as the QC...you didn't read the small print on the paperwork? Give it until the end of the season, you'll find more.

There is no QC in RV! at least not to my standards. My bar is set much to high.

How to grade qc using the (qc to rv curve).= Lower your standards and expectations. Forget about comparing the qc where you work to the rv industry completely. There in a league of there own.

Actually we the consumer, are the rv qc inspector.
I purchased a new 2013 tracer then traded for new 2014 lacrosse.
IMHO there is no qc, or if there was they suck at doing it. That said I bought primetime because I think there better at it, then most units we looked at on the market in our $ range.

I was at a dealer on Friday. I walked thru a few “new” Primetime Crusaders…..Ho my !! Just walking thru them, I seen things that were broke in the assembly process. The first thing I thought was…. Wow, no QC at all !!! All three RV’s had major defects along with saw dust and trim scraps all over the floor. If the product is shipped with no pride…. How is it assembled.

Then they should remove the two stickers on the door jams with two peoples names.

The microwave in our Roo was installed in such a way that it was in a slight twist. This caused the door to bind a little. The bottom door latch would catch easily but not the top one unless we pushed it closed on the top corner. Both latches must be engaged or it wont start. I removed it, fixed the twist, reinstalled it, and it closes much better.

If it weren't for the Japanese we would probably be saying the same thing about our auto manufacturers. Maybe the American RV industry needs a wakeup call.

Were you able to find this during your walk through prior to taking delivery? Some of these problems seem so obvious, you would hope the dealer would have found them as part of their QC walk through.

Honestly, the microwave had lights on screen, didn't actually hit the power (start) button.

Water leak didn't catch it on the demo. Did flush it.. (goes to show you to put your hand behind a new toilet and 'feel' for leaks.)

Screen door, slipped my mind. Actual doors close perfectly, just not the screen door.

Yup, I've always said the same thing. It seems nobody has pride anymore. They want everything for nothing. If you could build an RV outside of the US, you'll be able to afford a QC at every stage of the buildup and the workers will give you 100%.

We've had our 2012 Flagstaff 8528 IKWS for 2 years this month and it has made numerous trips to dealer and sits there as I write this. A total of more than 8 months at the dealers in just 2 years. No quality period.

Don't care where they are built, or by whom, but RV quality control does need to get much better!

I'd say a good average output is 15 units per day from a manufacturer. Some are more, some less. But think about a thorough inspection on 15 units per day. Heck, I spent over 2 weeks going through mine fixing stuff before it ever left the garage. Unless you have an Army of people that really care and share the same passion for quality products, it's just not going to happen.

I honestly think, it will never get better, just worse. As long as people buy them, they will keep turning out the products as is.

If you want it bad, you get it bad. We want them and keep on buying them. We've all come to expect problems and consider ourselves lucky if they are relatively minor.

I too have been amazed at the lack of QC. Fortunately our problems have been minor and I've been able to correct them myself so I haven't had to wait on the dealer or for new parts. Some of the things I haven't bothered with, non functional items that are just sloppy. Things like wall trim that was split because someone used too much force to attach it. It looks like something put on by a 12 yr old or an adult who just doesn't give a dam. Graphics on the outside that are supposed to line up and are 1/4" off. I think "geez didn't the person who put this on notice this?" Well they probably did and the boss probably said "Let It go, no one will notice". This was our first camper and we feel very lucky that we've had no major problems and that after a year it still works for us. We see newer models and consider upgrading but the problems we hear about scare us off. I always think if they left these stupid little screw ups that are right in your face slip by, what's behind the walls and floors?

It's not necessarily a question of lack of pride. Corporations today want to increase profits at all cost. The first thing to suffer is quality. Dont be so fast to put the blame on the workers. Corporate greed is the #1 culprit.
